New Year's ResolultionsFollow

#1 Dec 31 2004 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
In an ongoing effort to combat the seemingly neverending flow of negative posts, I'm sending another post based on something more upbeat. Also, I'm currently bored at work. ^^

My New Year's resolutions regarding the game are:

(1) Help My Fellow LS Mates More
I know this should be a given, but there have been times that I have heard someone ask for help, or another member to join their party, or ask for advice, and have remained quiet or given some (usually valid) reason why I can't assist. Not that I don't give assistance from time to time- I'm just making a conscious decision to increase my assistance.

(2) Answer New Players' Questions More
This is one I know a great deal of us are guilty of- we hear some new player (I hate using 'newb') /sh a question, shake our heads, and continue doing what we were doing without a quick /tell back. I'm just as guilty- however, I am going to answer more new players' questions, and refer them back to Allakhazam whenever I can- after all, it's one of FFXI's best resources, in my opinion.

(3) Give Advice When Warranted
I am a little more hesitant with this one. I am going to follow through on it, however. I have seen a number of posts recently from more seasoned players complaining about the increase in players who are either poorly equipped, poorly levelled (in subjob), or don't have playing skills right (such as a war in Dunes who doesn't provoke). Many of these players have not been given proper guidance, and there are some who appreciate what you tell them. Bear in mind, a lot of how people respond is about your approach. I am also aware that I'll get my share of people berating me for 'telling them how to play the game'- which is why I say 'advise', not 'demand'. ;)

(4) Stop Complaining Without Trying to Find a Solution
One thing I have been guilty of is complaining about gilsellers, complaining about people stealing my mining points when I mine, people camping certain areas too aggressively, etc...
I have decided to stop complaining about things I cannot change, and to try to resolve the problems that I can work on. For example, my biggest beef recently was professional miners stealing my mining points (ok, you can't really 'steal' them because they're a public resource). I am going to try to figure out how to resolve it, or shut up about it. I'm sure my LS mates don't want to hear me whine any more, and I know I hate hearing someone say the same thing over and over again.

So, does anyone else have any in-game resolutions they'd like to share? They don't have to be as long-winded as mine, or even big resolutions. Maybe you want to make more gil, or level your craft, or even get an item. Feel free to throw in your 2 gil!

I resolve to find a good solid LS that isn't full of people looking to jump on my back, maybe start my own, hell.

Also, I'm going to get my rdm up to the 40's soon. Jesus. Takes forever.

Blade Warding is like waving your hand infront of a shotgun hoping that everything will line up to not blow your face off, the chance of it actually saving you when you actually need extra chance to live is laughable I personally go with Blood Draining, but Mongoose is probably better than it, but Blade Warding isn't even in the conversation.

I got 2:

1 - Finish my rank 5. I got one part done, but I've been putting off the rest for about 2 months now.

2 - Lvl THF to 45+ and, consequently, make more gil.
