Hi everyone! First time poster here, long time reader and a long time player of final fantasy. I have been playing since about 2 and a half years ago, and the one thing that has bugged me about the game in general is how few risks people are willing to take. I believe that the goal in a game should be to overcome challenges and obstacles, not have someone hold your hand to gain ranks and power.
What really stirred me off was a LS-mate of mine asking for help for san'doria mission 3-3. He REFUSED to do it unless someone level 60 or above would come with us to insure that no one died or had any problems. Now that's all well and good, but in my eyes that takes the fun out of the game! I don't think SE intended for missions to be as easy as they seem now a days. That lead me to an idea...
What if we started a linkshell who was devoted to playing the game as it was intended? I'm talking about everybody picking a job that is low level, and leveling it up with everyone else in the linkshell. We'd do the missions and quests from whatever starting city we chose, without using any higher level help (Higher being anyone more that could easily solo the mission/quest). We would party together in the dunes/qufim, and we would attempt to make it so the fun and challenge was back in final fantasy! Maybe even try a few smaller parties roaming non-traditional camps for variety! Everyone always assumes that you have to have six in a party, but why not just have a healer, a DD, and a tank roaming through the countryside?
If anyone is interested in this idea, either let me know here or ingame. My name in game is Chipzilla, and if we can get enough people i'd love to see the challenge put back into FFXI!
