Hmm... Thinking of leaving Ifrit serverFollow

I quit FFXI late last year, mostly due to time conflicts and other friends leaving the game. But I've returned this month, almost on a whim, and can already see the plans forming in my head... level this, level that, cap this, do such&such missions.

But I've returned to a server that, for the most part, is a ghost town. Ifrit is one of the old original servers and I think it's time for a move to a more active place.

Is Sylph still relatively active? What numbers does /sea all give you during prime time, for instance?

The reason I ask here is that I notice your thread count is... freaking huge.

I recently came back after about a two year hiatus. Sylph is pretty active with a wide range of FF experience. From my own experience this is what I've observed:

(Keeping in mind I'm in the EST Zone)

8:00 AM - 11:00 AM ~ 2,300 people

11:00 AM - 4:00 PM ~ 3,000 people

4:00 PM - ??? ~ 1,600 people

I could be way off and these numbers may be skewed since it's the summer... but this is what I've seen. There seems to be a lot of Europeans on this sever... bloody good fun.

Peace and hope to see you on Sylph.

The high thread count is caused by all the drama.

Drama ftmfw!

If you like drama, you'll love sylph.

My linkshell is mostly EU, with a smattering of 'merikans too. So it's active mostly all day in both timezones.

If you do transfer let me know. So long as you don't get offended and can insult people you'll fit in perfectly.

Thanks for the kind replies, all. I'll think about this some more.

On the one hand, I'm a bit of a loner... but on the other, I do like for there to *be* a crowd when I want to seek a party or just socialize.

I'm on Pacific time, and most of the players in my time slot (9PM onward) are JP and a smaller sleepy contingent of US players. This makes for a rather "vacant" feeling when I log on.

There's quite a mix of culture on Sylph, and typically a lot of people on... the only time there seems to be a real 'quiet' time, is between 8am - 2pm EST weekdays.

Otherwise... I've been managing to level a range of job levels in the last couple months since I came back, and haven't had a real issue getting a party.
