Hello, Im kind of new to this forum thing, but i am certanly trying.

I noticed a post about Nastynikky quitting >< she was a great player, i met her when i tried doing a mentor search. Not only did she answer all my questions, she even came and gave me a power level to 10 and escprted me to the dunes even. Im trying to start this up in hopes of everyone esle that is reading about her quitting would like to help with. I think if we can show her just how many people will miss her in this server, she might change her mind.

A Call To Arms!

To anyone that nastynikky has helped over the years, please add your name to the list

She said that she quit due to too much BS, well, i was only thinking with this post, we might be able to show her just how many people she has had a personal hand in helping over the years, and maybe convince her that she might be able to work through it. If anything, it would show our support

I agree. People that do this are doing you more of a disservice than service.

Whoever they are good/bad person or player, they are entitled to make their own minds up. If they quit because they wanted to then respect their decision.

And powerlevelling goes a long way to explaining why you have so many bad parties at higher levels.

#8Babysnugglez, Posted: Aug 14 2006 at 5:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) getting Pled for a few lvls isn't as bad as everyone says, think about it. What about all the sh*t rdms(Airwolf) who refuse to help out and cure ppl. What about the blms(Gnouv) who go afk or watch television while they play, not really putting in any work? I agree it may not help, but on a 300hr+ grind to the high lvls, you really think 3-4 lvls of PL is the problem? It's based upon each individual, I love how ppl who do nothing for this server but comment on its past current and future states are so easily disgusted by "PL". Ive seen you play Ashion, your really good. You saying that if someone had PLed you when you were new, even for a few lvls, you wouldn't be who you are today? I know of one person that refused to be pled, just one. Next time Jimbob is down in the dunes PLing his friends and a few other newbies in the pt, let's see how disgusted you are.

Powerleveling isn't a problem by any means, unless people absolutely depend on it whenever they level ANY job in the dunes and Qufim. What I'm talking about is powerleveling a persons very first job through say, Ronfaure and La Theine.

Those levels of soloing and early partying show you what the job is capable of, not to mention that if it's their first job, it teaches them about things like aggro distance, how fast exp is better than big exp, how your statistics stack on different mobs, et cetera.

Speeding someone through this process eliminates a lot of techniques, skill, and knowledge that could have been acquired by just playing. You are ultimately playing for them.

To answer your question, no, I wouldn't know close to what I know right now if I had been powerleveled. I wouldn't be aware of ideas like maximizing spell proc rates or optimizing the gear I swap out for TPgaining/Weaponskill. I wouldn't even be aware of aggro ranges, and I'd get my team killed.

#10Babysnugglez, Posted: Aug 14 2006 at 7:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What if that lvl 14 whm w/o a SJ was a returning player, who used to have a 75rng. Or if the guy was an Xbox beta player, who left his lvl50 job to come to another server? My only point is that you'll read alot about the dangers of PLing low lvl playerson this website. But when someone says they are watching television when they play, or even play FF Tactics while they are in a 6/6 exp pt (yeah that was some guys excuse for letting tank die in a pt of mine lol), no one bats an eye. Sure there are bad players out there a tall lvl ranges, I found that out in my first 6 months playing this game. I was a thf/drk until 50, just having fun, mabye at the expense of a few exp for the pt per hr, though not intentionally. Just to try something different. My parties were always decent, mabye that's a testament to the fact that 4/6 good players can pick up the slack for the other 2 who aren' playing to capacity. After running X amount of distance to really bad pts as my WHM, I started making exp pts, and for the rest of my time ingame, I can only recall 3-4 times I accepted an invite, through almost 600lvls. I found that with a tank, backup voke, 2 healers/refresh and 2 DD, almost all my exp pts were sucessful, and many went on for 6-7 hrs at a time. If you don't have an optimal party setup, or at least one that is suited for the area that you plan to exp in, your pt won't do very well. I'd rather havbe the player who may not have great gear, or mabye isn't preforming to the best of their ability, than the player who is watching 24 while in my pt. Not everyone reads these boards, not everyone is aware that some simple adjustments can greatly effect the way you play. you just never know what that person is really doing on the other end of that character. Sometimes the dorbell rings, someone goes afk and the tank dies. Ppl forget meds and die, then everyone waits while the whm raises the poor fellow. It's how we choose to deal with these mistakes, as a pt leader I realized that I can't control what everyone in my pt is doing, all i can do is ask that everyone tries their best and gives a heads up when they can't. It usually made for a decent pt experience. All you can do is try, and forgive interruptions that others may have due to RL circumstances. In mabye 1000 different pt members I had, then only ones I noticed who actually affected the party were the ones who would have full MP 2 mins into fight, or the ones who would auto-attck then go afk. That's lack of effort, not skill/dedication/teamwork

What if Babysnugglez learned how to not make all his posts one giant block of text?

Anyways, I guess I mostly agree on the whole "Powerleveling on first job ever is bad." I don't think it is as bad as people themselves just being lazy in the first place, it does enable those lazy people to never have to learn to become anything more.

I will say for low level jobs I'd never turn down a party because it was being powerleveled, but I haven't ever seriously asked someone to power level me. Try soloing a bunch of jobs to 20 its fun and suprisingly fast if you don't mind useing a few au laits and/or juices.

As far as the OP: While everyone who plays generally wishes people wouldn't quit, outside of a few people who can't manage to stay away from the forums even after they quit, trying to drag them back in useing an organized way like a petition is kind of cruel. Its like petitioning someone trying to quit smoking to keep smoking, except I guess FFXI doesn't harm you quite as much.

I love that show. Can't wait to see how they deal with the Chinese in the new season. Also, I heard a rumor that a full length, in theatre, movie is going to be done featuring the cast of 24. drools ^^

Sorry guys,

I JUSt deleted all the info off of my PS2's HD. This was origionally my , now ex, husband's game to start, so i dont have the disks to reinstall it. And really, after about two and a half years, i have just had enough, sorry to say so. It was a game anymore, it was a chore, a job. Worse then trash day, and here, we even have to seperate our compostables now. Yes, i did have a lot a fun, and i am leaving a lot of friends behind :( but i just cant take it anymore.

Judging by her comment though, I think she hit her limit and is not comming back. I hit my limit while I was stationed in Korea and I quit this game for 8 months, but I didn't delete my character because I wasn't sure if I was ever coming back. Hard to part with 2 1/2 years of hard work. My wife eventually started playing again and got me back into it.

My point... If someone deletes there character that took them so long to accomplish, then they're pretty serious about quiting.

To be honest... While I was on my break from this game I got alot more done in the day, generally felt better physically and mentally, and I had better work ethic from sleeping more. So, even though she is an awsome player, I have to agree with her choice to quit.
