Hey everyone whats up.

Well I have a question I'm currently a lvl 56 pld coming close to the lvl 57 mark and now gluttony sword is within my reach but I currently lack the funds. I'm curious what I should have whether gluttony or dark staff (dark I currently own). The straight up answer for most would be gluttony of course but heres why I'm asking.

I'm a taru pld and as well all know if not most of us know I have a ton of MP. Currently have 845 HP and 407 MP and dark staff helps me a lot to recover MP and reduces my downtime by half. I don't know whether to sell my staff right now and get gluttony sword or keep my dark staff and just save up money for gluttony sword and get it later on. Well hope you can help me make up my mind lol thanks.

Hmm....

You present an interesting topic. At first, I thought you said earth staff. I will be honest, I don't think you should be using a staff at all, except for HNM fights. And here is why:

-You lose shield break, a imperative tool used for snatching hate back.

-You lose the ability to block attacks with your shield, another imperative ability to the Paladin.

-You lose the added defense of a Shield.

-Staff = High delay / minimal damage, while sword
Sword = Low Delay / Decent damage.

-More hits = More hate, esp. with Full AF.

- More misses, less hate = aggro on your party.

- Taru I believe have the least amount of VIT in the game, out of all races. You should really be striving to get the gluttony Sword to counter act that. Even though you have a ton of MP, the ability to not take as much damage far outweighs the ability to heal.

Here are a couple of the +'s to using a staff:

- They kick major skeleton Tail, along side with a MNK.

- They have a couple nice WS

Overall, I think that for EXP parties, you should really only be using a Sword and Shield combo. However, for HNM fights a staff, mainly earth staff is what you are going to want to be using, esp if you are tanking it.

But, it really all comes down to how you play Paladin. I personally prefer the A+ rating that I get with SWD, and also never pictured a Knight using a staff to defeat his enemies.

Call me cookie cutter, but cookie cutters are used for a reason. They make things come out perfect each time.

Hi Racer, It must be fun to be a taru PLD.

If I imagine my self with lower defense, lower HP and double MP,
some of the following problem might occur during exp party.
(By the way the I.M. helmet look too cute on you! muahhaaha)

You must nonstop healing yourself to keep the enemy from argoing others since you take more dmg ( means harder to hold hate) then all other race. After each fight i would say you might use about 300 mp each fight ( dotn know if i am right) but would not have enough time to recover mp during pulls to maintain exp chain. So i would say Dark Staff is necessary for you to use during pulls to recover mp ASAP. Mean while use a sword and shield to max perform what all other PLD does during battle. Taru PLD have the advantage of MP so i would say use t to the fullest. instead of gluttony sword i would rather equip drk staff and vermillion cloak ( I know this thing cost 4 times more then the gluttony ^^; ) betwwen pulls.

Right now, money is your main concern and what i suggest just dig a bigger hole for you to jump in ^^; . But I would say keep the drk staff and farm for the gluttony ( 1 archers ring = 1 glutony ^^ ) then go forward to get vermillion cloak ( If possible)

Also pt formation helps a lot too, get the thief in the party will help you hold hate very very much. A thief partner might be an nice option too . . .

A good PLD is not to just hold hate and period. They need to control the hate. A PLD tank's job is not so simple just to spam provoke , Cure, and Flash like a clock . Their Goal is really to Control the hate to provide minimun down time and allow Party Damage Dealer to fight with their fullest. (It will gets tough with a thf DD or past lv60 with the one who finish up the skillchina have a thief SJ ^^..... but its just getting more and more fun ... )

Anyway looking forward to see you in full AF .... that must look even cuter on you .... muahahahah.......

Lol juusan you just love my IM helmet don't you lol. Yea and just to clear it up Credos I don't use staff during exp fights I just use my dark staff at the end of the fight to get the extra 10 MP bonus after the fight but this 1-1 between dark and gluttony is confusing lol. I think right now I'm lining more with the gluttony seeing that dark staff prices keeps falling and falling from 280k to 200k (where I bought mine) to 170k. Holding hate for me is not a problem the DDs in my pt can perform at max without drawing hate away from me (without thf help) just lose hate on occasion but thats for 2 seconds lol. Well thanks for the input guys its been helpful but I'm still a confused big headed taru :)
