After days of soul-searching I am beginning to wonder if my expectations of what I should be accomplishing in this game are too high.
If I hit level 62 before Sunday (which I am sincerely hoping I do, as I am about 5500 tnl), that will have seen me go from level 45 to level 62 in just about six weeks. This same time frame has also seen me take my WAR sub from level 27 to 800 away from level 33, acquire all my AF, and go from rank 5 to rank 7.
I have had friends in my LS tell me that this is an incredible pace. I'm just wondering what others think. FFXI is my first online game, so I am used to traditional RPGs where it's possible to gain 17 levels in a matter of days.
What all this has lead to is many late nights, many nights of logging on as soon as I get home from work, and many weekends spent doing nothing but leveling. The greatest fear I have, though, is that if I level more slowly, all my friends will rush past me in level, and I won't be able to party with them anymore. This fear is reinforced by the fact that some of them have passed me up, even at the pace I am going. This is one of the reasons I am dying to get a static, so this would become less of a worry.
Thoughts? Comments? Anyone? Anyone?
