Well, since no one has posted sying STFU yet, and my tales are actually getting responses, I guess I'll keep going..... Smiley: smile

Unfortunately with this being the first week of classes (I work at a university) I have to work late every night this week. Since this puts a damper on LFG, I dedided to take a few..... risks.

What you are about to read may be long-winded and a little boring, but I had fun doing it and feel like sharing.

The first thing I decided to do Monday night was get my AF boots. I had everything done but the last step, which required me to go to one of the Orc camps in Davoi and examine a hide flap on one of the tents. Easily done, but examining the flap pops two level 53+ Orc NMs. After that, you have to find another hide flap somewhere in the camp to get a key item. I had been unsuccessful in securing any help for this, so I did a little research and found out about a way to do it solo...

The second hide flap appears as soon as the NMs are popped, so they do not actually have to be killed - their main fucntion is to kill you before you can find the other flap. I had heard of a method involving training them away from the camp, dying, reraising, and then hauling tail back to the camp before they get back.

I went with a variation on the theme. I went in as THF/NIN and Tonko'd my way to the camp. When I found the tent, I warned the guy farming Orcs in the area of what I was about to do (He didn't respond, but he ran off, so I hope he understood). I took a deep breath, dropped invis, and popped the NMs. I immediately hit Flee + Perfect Dodge and ran around the camp like a decapitated chicken until I found the second flap and got my key item - then allowed the NMs to do their job and kill me. Back in Jeuno, I changed to MNK and then went to Bastok to get my AF boots.

Seeing how well that went, I got a little too brave for my own good. I got a Tele-Mea from a LS buddy and headed to Castle Birdhouse. The Yagudo crest was the only one I had left for limit 3, and I was determined to get the **** thing solo. I made it past the 4-lever door when someone else opened it, and getting past the torch door was easy with Flee + Hide. It took me about 5 minutes of playing hacker to crack the passwords, and I dropped into the room with the ???. Unfortunately, the Yagudo High Priest turned around to say hello just before I could get my crest.

Real life then intervened in the strangest of ways. I had a case of insomnia that night, so I called in sick. After finally falling asleep for a few hours, I was determined to have another go at the Birdhouse. As fate would have it, I ended up tailing a group following a very familiar path. I followed them through the 4-lever door, and eventually through the torch door. Then I notice they are inputting the passwords. One of them warns me that I'll fall if I stay where I was, but I just smiled and said "Understood." To my shock and utter delight, they were there not for Limit 3, but to kill the Yagudo High Priest. So while they had Big Bird occupied, I popped Perfect Dodge and grabbed my crest. I warp scrolled back to Jeuno, changed to MNK, and went visit a certain old geezer - Limit 3 completed.......

That evening, I see the 71 WHM that had helped me kill Dark Spark shouting for help in opening the gates at Garliage for a friend's coffer. He was offering a reward, but I told him the only reward I wanted was a chance at my coffer while we were there. Within an hour's time, we both had our coffers. I did have to turn down an XP invite to do this, but it was worth it. Now all that remains is the Temple Hose from some bad-*** Yagudo NM in Castle Birdhouse.

Here's hoping this game stays this exciting and I don't go back to hours upon hours of LFG..... Smiley: wink

Awww, you're so nice to the NM's, I thought you were going to warp out and leave them hanging :)

Davoi was....glitchy....last night is all I have to say. We had 3 Orcs aggro through a solid wall while doing RDM AF1...This was after Purplehand disappeared while we were clearing the area of linking orcs. I mean, he just *popped* off the screen for no good reason. So, we respawned him and then old Purpleass decided he had unlimited MP and was going to spam, spam, spam AOE spells all over us. The good news is the Storage Hole was spawned at the enterance to Davoi and our RDM got his AF1 done without having to seach for it.

Don't think I didn't try - lol. But add the fact that the Scroll of Instant Warp isn't too, well - instant to the fact that 2 level 55 or so NMs were beating on a level 45 THF in Field Gear.....
