I've never done a BCNM before...and I heard some players have very bad experience with it.

I'm a 42 WHM in need of Erase. Anyone willing to help me get it? I'm all ears...any help and suggestions would greatly be appreciated it.

Hey Trin I've done a few BCNM and have had some not so good experiences but would go along, I also know some people who do them often so they may pitch in and help. I'll be gone most of the weekend usually I spend them with the gf but will be back Sunday and usually play Sunday evenings until late so maybe we can set one up I have a large stockpile of seals so that wont be a problem.

/bow No problem at all just trying to do what I can for the LS you guys are a great bunch of people, and as to DJ's comment Rapier and Keebler are exactly who I had in mind to help, they are a couple of top-notch players and people. So when I see you Sunday we will try and figure out something. See all of you after the weekend good luck on your adventures.

I can help you out and, being your the WHM, I can 99% assure you a win on BCNM 40 IF you can bring along a 40+ RNG. I'm out of orbs myself but I can surely help you out if It's not static or work night. (I work weird days FRI, SUN, MON).

Jebroubien is also a good person to go with.

Just some tips.

The basic setup and easiet to pull it off with is:
Brd
DD (melee/rng)
DD (melee/rng)
Healer (rdm)
Healer (whm)
Tank (War or monk)

The setup is pretty much inflexible, in paranthesis are optimal jobs for that slot. Brd is basically required. Melee/rng DD is best for the DD slots (rather than blm) because of constant damage output, you don't need a DD who needs to rest. Having 1 whm and 1 rdm healer is nice because whm is a better healer for the main pt and rdm with convert is better able to handle the massive bard healing load. Pld and nin tanks are not optimal here, this is not to say that you can't do it with them or even that it will be very difficult, but war's and monks seem to make better tanks, I've also had samurai and even dark knights tank my bcnm40's. The reason pld or nins are not optimal is because both tend to have troubles getting hate off the bard, also pld tend to run out of mp and the mobs are hard for nin to tank because they are monk type.

Make sure you get an experienced bard, if they have not done it before successfully they aren't likely to get it done correct this time either.

Allegory does know what he's talking on that BCNM. But the BCNM I do is a three-person affair, so no need to gather a whole party and have a BRD. And, it is somewhat flexable. I've always done RNG/RNG/WHM but I'm sure the mage can be BLM WHM BRD or RDM as long as they have 1.) bind and 2.) can heal. I also think a DRK could be swapped out for one RNG but, unlike the RNG RNG Mage set-up, I can't virtually assure a win on it unless I actually try it once :)

one DD should be a DRK optimally (if we're talking steamed sprouts) because i dunno about you but i sure as heck dont want my tank getting hit with flood... stun is your friend in this battle

edit: rapier... the guy was talking steamed sprouts not the royal jelly you do ;)

Hey Rapier - how wide an area does a SMNs Astral Flow cover? I wonder if they couldn't come in with some Yagudo Drinks or something, and bust off two or three Astral Flows to hit multiple jellies at once... ?

Of course, it would need to be wide enough an area to at least hit all four on one side...

...actually, the more I think about it, a SMN getting aggro from four jellies is probably NOT a good thing.

Smiley: lol

Only problem with that is each of Jellies have seperate Elemental Strengh, so it would probally go something like this -

1st Jelly- Takes Full Damage
2nd Jelly- Takes 1/2 Damage
3rd Jelly- Takes 1/2 Damage
4th Jelly- Healed by Element.

Not sure on the healed thing but I did see one get healed mid-fight after a AOE cast, so I'm thinking it could/does happen.

I had my first run of BCNM last night. Reign and I did about 5 runs of Steamed Sprouts (Mandys) and it went extremely well.

Our party set-up was:
DRK - Reign
DRK
WHM - Myself
WHM
BRD - a very good one
BLM

We won 4 out of 5 runs. We got three Erase scrolls... YAY!!!!

Thanks Reign. Thanks everyone. Your suggestions were extremely helpful.

Question - Do the BCNM 40 - 6 person parties get more treasure than the 3 person ones? Could you give me a idea of how many drops? The 3 person Royal Jellies one seems to drop 3-5 items and a few slime oils..since you're fighting slimes. Usually it is 1 scroll, 1 weapon, 1 misc, 1 ring.

So far what I have observed they drop 6 items usually 2 or 3 armor peices 1 or 2 scrolls and some miscellaneous items such as turquoise or beastcoins. But always 6 items.

Once we get inside the BC all the mages buff up and buff party then rest to full MP, after the mages are full up the BRD casts 2 buffs I believe for +attack and +defense.

The BRD then heads up the walkway to where the sprouts are just out of aggro range and sleeps the NM when he does this the other sprouts rush at him. The Melee's run in to the circle and begin attacking the NM while the Bard sleeps the rest of the sprouts near the bridge. One WHM is specifically for keeping the BRD healthy seeing as when the sprouts awaken he can take a pretty good beating.

The other WHM is specifically for healing the Melee's and I guess the BRD too if needed in extreme circumstances though this has happened to us YET.

Once the NM sprout has been dealt with the melee's begin to pull one sprout at a time into the center of the area and kill them off one by one. This can be a little tricky sometimes due to the hate built up by repeatedly sleeping them but not too bad. When they are all dealt with you get your chest.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Make sure to have one if not more people with Stun, Flood can be a nasty thing and is cast by the black NM sprout only.

Yup - got killed by an Antican with Flood... hit me for like 600+ HP.

Also, can you tell us what went wrong the one time you died? Was there something you didn't do, or was it just bad luck?

In my personal opinion it was a new BCNM group and we had never been on one all together, I knew some of the people from my LS and had only done a quest with one of the Darks for his AF1.

I think our first time was just a learning experience and seeing how things would go, and I think if memory serves me correct we have went 8/1 after that. We have a methodical system now and works great. So yea I think the first run was just a fluke since things have gone so well after that.
