Hey guys ive noticed lots of strange things going on with accounts the last couple of hours. Ive all ready read about two people getting hacked and then witnessed it first hand last night.

Call Playonline

Last night while on ventrillo with the linkshell one of are members accounts were hacked. He recived a message saying you have logged on from a diffrent terminal. He told us through vent to watch his character to see if it would move zones. We all thought it was just lag and the character didnt log out after a dc. Untill the character was in the whitegate zone, quickly followed by Jeuno. We followed his character "Nolocke" to the ah where the hacker took all his items he had up on the ah earlier. The character then logged off. I called a gm and they said that yes the account was hacked and that he must use the roll back feature and contact them right away. But since it was the weekend the hacker has untill monday to get what they can and cover their tracks.

my suggestions call a gm, tell playonline.

Yep. My account was hacked and stolen. I logged on after getting home from work and it said the password had been changed. I logged to my daughters account to see where I was and I ended up on Balmut server. Before work when I logged on I noticed a small box pop up with a red X in the middle that said application not supported. I didn't pay any attention to it and logged on.

SE says there is a Adobe Flash Player 9 exploit and they will restore my character. I decided to reformat get a different anti virus, foxfire with flash block and nonscrip adds .... beef up security. I'll be safe right?

After all of that (pain in arsh btw) I logged back on to my daughters account to do the long 4 hrs worth of updates. About half way though her account password was change and I was booted. I'm kinda stupid in hinsite. Obvious now, they got her password before I updated Flash player 9 and are just now getting arround to her hack.

I forgot to change her password! She is POed!

Go to POL/Information read the news and follow the instructions.
Then change your password. According to ABC News 10,000 web site contain this hack.

See ya in a week rofl!

Has anyone reported being hacked on 360 or ps2 yet? I'm sure it's probably annoying and difficult, but possible.

I'm reading about all of these hackings and worrying myself.

This 1 is a pc hack though Adobe Flash Player 9 and reported to be on 10,000 web sites. Put OS on your ps3 and they will.

So for now I'm safe on my lowly ps2 I guess. I wouldn't get the game for my 360 anyways.

unle you play on a pc as well or log in on a friends pc or any other pc you have nothing to worry about if you play FF exclusively on ny console (even if it is os3 or 360).. theres no way to make a key logger o anything of that sort that could infect a console lol... one of the advantages of playing on colsole.. sure we may have software limitations, ugly graphics and no cool windower plugins but.... at least we get to keep our hard earned 4+ years worth of work lol

That's not exactly a correct statement, there are trojans for other consoles (e.g. PSPBrick). I don't think there's anything out in the wild yet that infects a 360 or PS<2,3> that self replicates -- yet.

However, a slight derivation of what your saying, even if you only play FFXI on a console only you can still get compromised by doing silly things like keying in your password on web sites. A keylogger that records "fanzone.playonline.com<crlf>ABCD1234<crlf>superdoublesecret<crlf>" is still going to give an attacker a bump of direction, console only or not.

Also, using weak passwords gives an attacker a chance to take control of your account no matter what platform you use. SE not to long ago, caught someone taking over accounts because they used weak passwords.

Recently, we became aware of an individual who attempted to compromise the integrity of the FINAL FANTASY XI service. The individual's efforts exploited the low-security passwords chosen by a small percentage of our customers.
