The good(bad) old daysFollow

I know on seperate forums they have these but I would like to see one for our server.

I wan't us to share some of our newbie stories. Come one come all, let us realize how much we have grown!

*Things I did as a newbie:

-Did not realize I had a weapon till lvl 3.

-Did not know the AH existed till lvl 12....so many wasted crystals....

-Couldn't figure out macros till I hit lvl 15

-Couldn't complete any quests till lvl 12....didn't know how to "Trade" items to NPC's

Maybe it would've helped for me to read the instruction booklet...but it is so nice to look back and see how far I have come.

I didn't learn right away how to stack items, and when I'd go out to level I'd have all these unstacked items in my inventory. :P

I also thought Divine Seal was a seal BLMs and WHMs bought and they had to break them to use enhanced magic.

i remember when i first started playing i had no concept of the weapons system in FFXI, so like when i was a lv. 4 war i remember buying like some high lv. DRK greatsword and not bein able to equip it, i was like wtf lol

i kept trying to attack a sheep in west ron and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me attack it... until the person next to the sheep did a "pets sheep" emote to signal to me that it was his pet -.-; (my first time encounter with a bst ;p)

...and running away from galkas because i thought they were orcs...XD

I had a really hard time figuring out what these macro things where people where using and why would you possibly need them? I leveled Warrior when I first started playing, and now I realize looking back why noob warriors forget to provoke.

(/em clicks menu, brings up job abilities, hits "Provoke")

Yeah that takes a while and then I finally discovered macros, WOOT. No wonder I quit warrior at level 17 ; ;

Also I could never figure out how to trade someone gil, and lets not even mention how many stacks of crystals I sold for 14 gil apiece at NPC's /sigh.

But I wouldn't trade all those experiences for anything, hopefully when you get a newbie party you can remember your first days of playing.

Thats awesome Frosted, my LS "ParentalAdvisory" is waiting for me to lvl my blm up so we can begin our static partying. Dunes arent being polite to me though. Anyways hope to see yu all out there.

Well, I was lucky, did most all of my newb stuff in beta, when there weren't forums to help :P

First enemy I fought was a bee, and even though I tried to attack it, I couldn't figure out how to stay facing it...didn't know that rest will lock target during battle... :P

Also, me and a friend spent 3 hours one night trying to figure out macros...People would explain it, but badly...i.e. "oh, to do a macro, you do 'Way to go!' /cheer /wait 2 /joy /wait 2 /clap" so I tried to insert it all on one line, but it didn't fit, so I carried it over to the next line....didn't work...so I separated them to "/cheer /wait 2" "/joy /wait 2"...STILL didn't work...then I tried putting / before AND after them all...getting annoyed at this point...next I put them all on separate lines, with / before and after still didn't work...finally I got it all figured out..."oh SEPARATE lines!!!...woulda taken that person all of 2 minutes to explain better...then I spent another hour making a really cool one (5 am by this time lol)

I still learn new stuff everyday, and even though I don't have the mentor thing (never took the time to go get it), I still like to help out newbies sometimes, sometimes getting a "wow!! you know EVERYTHING" (just got the resources to find things out, or I've done them before) and sometimes a "geez, you are such a stupid n00b!!!" for friendly advice.

p.s. If ya have a question for me, or need help with anything, just ask, I'm not always available, but I like to help when I can (when my sweetie's not around or I don't already have plans) ;P
