Hello Folks,

Unfortunately for me, it does not seem possible to recover my old account information from PlayOnline's superb (sarcasm) customer service... So, I have no choice but to start over with a brand new account. I originally played on the Bahamut server, and since it has been locked, I am in search of a new server! In addition, I am in search for anyone willing to help me start out again... Linkshells, leveling, etc. I do not need my hand held by any means, but it would be nice to find some friendly folks willing to make the journey back a little easier. I live in the EST time zone and will mostly play during the evening hours into the night, but the times I will be online will fluctuate for sure! Please reply back to me here or send me a PM if you think you could help me out! Thanks!

Welcome back! Although I am sorry you must start over. I won't lie, although lowbie-ville is easier these days thanks to FOV and many other changes, it's going to be tedious re-doing things like outpost quests, job-unlocking, etc.

I will be glad to help you if I can. I won't have internet access restored until Thursday or Friday, though. Maybe you will decide to join my linkshell!

But you should shop around a bit. Check out the stickied thread atop this forum for some linkshell ideas. Four I can recommend offhand are Axiom (my main shell), Musketeers (excellent organization, veteran-heavy but open to new people), Triumvirate (a friendly offshoot of Axiom) and MogHat (a friendly offshoot of Triumvirate). Axiom's website is axiom-online.org/forums ^^

In-game, I am Grommet (and several mules). See you soon.

Oh, you may want to post here with your in-game name and other stuff (city, jobs you've restarted; and perhaps what your pre-retirement achievements were).

Hello Grommet,

Prior to leaving FFXI, my main focus had been leveling (BST 75, BLM 73 and a slew of other jobs mid-level). I rarely did missions and only did sky once (maybe twice) on my BLM. Ultimately, I really do enjoy the classes er "jobs" that FFXI offers in comparison to other MMORPG's. Since I had left, I have played WoW, EQ2, LoTrO, and WAR to max level. However, these games (for whatever reason) did not capture my imagination like FFXI did when I first started playing it. My main goal upon my return would be to get at least one job to the level cap once more, while possibly experiencing content I had never explored before...

My new character: Grimmus
Nation: Bastok
Current Job focus: MNK
Jobs I would like to unlock: DRG, BLU, PUP, SMN (possibly all of them this time around)
Job I would like to 75: DRG/BLU

I know it will be a somewhat tedious, pain-staking journey back to 75, however, I believe it can be done! My original account was played for about a year and a half, and I nearly managed two 75's during that period of time. Although, my playtime will fluctuate with RL responsibilities throughout the next year and I won't have as much time to devote as was the case years ago. If I can find some friendly folks that will accept a new, but returning play into their LS and get some help every now and again, I would be most grateful. I just would like to enjoy this game once more and hopefully meet some new people (I remember how fun the game was because of the community and friendships made)!

If Grimmus joins my LS, people will be referring to (nicknames) "Grim" and "Grom."

I won't be the only G-dog there anymore? :P

It's mutual -- sorry I didn't see you when I pearled on Trium (OMG) yesterday. Soon! But my playtime is less than before these days.

We're glad to have you back! I can vouch for the Moghat LS - we've been a bit quiet for the last couple of weeks since everybody (myself included) is sort of busy with RL commitments, but we're a friendly bunch and I'm sure you'd fit in just fine. Whatever you decide as far as linkshells go, please do feel free to /tell me anytime you need help with any low-level quest, or even just for a chat, I'll gladly lend a hand. Welcome back!
