Just moved over from PSUFollow

Greetings to everyone...

I was a long time PSU player, but when I found that my wife and I could play FFXI simulataneously from pc and 360 I made the jump immediately. I only know what little we've done so far and what I've read on here and a few other sites, but we are having the time of our lives with this awesome and incredibly deep game. (even tho i died three times in one night..lol)

Just wanted to say hi and maybe get to know some people because I had a TON of friends on PSU and only a few have come over to FF so far.

Donnimouse 15 rdm (Taru of course =)

my wife's char:

Tamarrrra 15 war (Mithra FTW)

and our good friend from england who joined us from PSU..

Taozer 15 blm (also taru)

We are in windy of course so we could get our rings. currently farming xp at giddeous and working on our cooking skills by making peeled crayfish.

Tamz and are old school DnD'rs from back in the day, so we get most of the basic concepts, but this game is HUGE so any advice and (a dictionary of acronyms) would be helpful.

So far the few people we have talked to have been great, but it's always nice to make new friends. See you around!

Welcome to Ragnarok! I was motivated to post because I see you too are married. (Unfortunately, my wife doesn't play anymore!)

If you find yourself in need of a linkshell, check out the stickied thread in this forum. Of course, I am partial to my own shell, Axiom, which is medium-sized and has an even spread of newer and veteral players. A couple of other LSs that are excellent are Triumvirate (medium-large, weighted more to newer folks but with several endgamers helping too) and Musketeers (medium-large, weighted more to the higher-level side but with a fair number of newer folks too).

My name in-game is Grommet (not MJS ... the handle "Grommet" was taken here long when I signed up long ago!). Enjoy the game!

Hi! I saw your name and I thought it was Dominuse, lol. Anyway, I'm Willowkarr, my husband is the one who got me into this fame, Siekarr, although you will never see him, he quit about a year ago and actually hates it now, long story, not actually game related....odd but true. Anyway, welcome!!

Nice to meet both of you and thanks for your warm replies. We will likely be on tomorrow night so when I get logged in I'll send u a message or tell. We haven't joined any LS yet, but I will definitely check into yours, Grommet.

Were heading towards support job territory and I know Tamz was thinking about adding monk, but I am at a a loss on what to choose, since RDM is already a combo of whm, blm and swords..lol I know eventually I want to be a summoner, but thats a long ways down the road from what I have read so far.. mebbe white mage for the teleporting and group buffs, etc..?

You definitely will need /WHM for Summoner. For good or ill, Summoner is expected to main-heal from about level 22 (when they get Cure 2 as /whm) onward, about 99% of the time anyway. (Sometimes I'll get lucky as SMN and be in a PT with either WHM or a PL, but, bottom line, expect to main-heal once you're about L22.)

SCH may also be a good subjob, but I don't know anything about that yet.

Oh, Axiom's website is http://www.axiom-online.org/forum (or skip the /forum, but nearly all the fun is in the forum).

Tamz and I are lvl 24/12(15) now, getting ready to trek to Jeuno. Loving this game more and more as we get further into it!

I want to send a big thank you to Cloudwill, who we only asked in passing for the best place to find the ghouls on the dunes, but insisted on escorting us to gusgen mines, babysitting us the entire time, and even changed his subjob to THF to give us his TH bonus on the drops, and waited patiently till we all 3 got our skulls. All this from a guy I'd never met before, who asked for nothing in return, and shrugged it off like it was no big deal.

Cloudwill, you rock!

The big thing we need now is to finish our Windy 2-1 mission. We made one courageous try at the Maze that ended in everyone's death..lol We really need those prizm powders, but they are nigh impossible to find. I've never seen them at auction. Even trekked to Bastok.. but the alchemy guild merchants only have them if someone has turned them in recently, and they didnt have them the time we were there. (Is it just me or did Bastok seem deserted?)

Does anyone know if there's a Bazaar out there somewhere that sells them regularly? Judging by how long my sneak spell lasted, I'm sure if I level to 25 just to get invis first, I'll get us all killed again..lol

Thanks again to anyone who can help a couple of noobs. =)

^^ It's always good to read about new people getting into the game :D, and of course a (somewhat late) /welcome!

Now, about your Invisible problem: I would recommend getting RDM25 first, like you mentioned yourself. It will save you a lot of hassle if you have Invisible readily available just by casting it.

However, it's never a bad idea to carry around some Prism Powders as well. The best place to get those is a Jeuno based AH. There are always at least a couple of stacks for sale, but you should be aware that they will set you back about 10k/stack. Not cheap if you are just starting out. Compare it to the price of a scroll of Invisible: 4k.

Good luck with your mission and enjoy yourselves :D. And treasure these days when you are still discovering every aspect of the game. For the coming months, you will find that Vana'diel is bigger than you realized every single day. ^^
