Doesn't anyone Role Play anymore.Follow

#1 Sep 02 2007 at 11:50 PM Rating: Decent
I've had a bad experience with an LS, and many of it's members, I have setup my own LS, for the purpose of role playing as a party, doing quests, missions, and even leveling up as the character and giving those characters their own personalities. But it looks like no one plays this game like any of the other Final Fantasy games, all I see is "I have to level as fast as possible" or I get stuck with no exp while some high level does the quest for me. I don't want to play that way. I want to follow the story and do the quests as I find them, not have someone else do the game for me. Are there no more role players out there, or do you have to not care about playing the game. I also find no one ever reads the user agreement, or the code of conduct. No wonder so many accounts get banned, and many players become hated. Anyway if you'd like to Role Play, check out Abearsworth LS on www.playonline.com community/linkshell.

I've not checked this in a few days, but I've gotten to a point where I'm not sure I'll keep playing the game, if I can get a few people into my linkshell that do want to party as the character, it will keep me in the game. I'm mostly in Bastok right now, trying to find a job I really like, and how to set my character as who he should be for what job he is doing at the time. I'll look you up, if I find you, I hope you'll bare with me, as I try to figure out how to play and enjoy the game.

I would like to do this as well, but I have no ideal what lvl frame your looking for? I'm a 75 WHM and was working on my lvl 60 BRD. I could always start lvling another job to join.

hmm, I don't know if you'd have to go start a new job :P Things may be arranged and adjusted to fit everyone's needs and desires.

I've gotten a few more people into my Ls and A good friend is back playing the game, was away for a bit. I'd like to make it an LS for Role Playing, but also for anyone who just loves playing the game. Doesn't matter what level any job is, I've got levels in all the beginning jobs, and have four advanced Jobs so far. I'd like to setup questing party with jobs that can do skill chains and magic bursts, and there are some quests where you will be leveled down when doing them, like the eco-warrior quest, it drops you to lv.20 and for the mission 2.3 the dragon to make rank 3, you are leveled down to 25, I've not seen all the quests and my books don't have all the new things since 2004. But My LS is more for playing the game in fun and role playing the character, but you don't have to really be into RPG per say to be in my LS. But you will get yelled at for cussing or degrading others. :-)

oh also if you'd like to join and can't find me on the game, look at
http://www.playonline.com then got to
linkshell community off the community drop down menu, it's near the top right :-) to login it wants your ID from the game, (the 4 letter 4 digit)and the same password you use there. thanks for reading this post :-)

I use to when the PC version came out. Both my Hume and Taru characters are role play names. I had my macros set up, my personality set up but unfortunately no one was interested. I'll be willing to join up if it's serious. I still role play at times but not as much because it's not as fun or exciting roleplaying by yourself. But I'm always game :)

Role Playing isn't fun at all if you don't play an RGP as it should be. I find it funny that everyone is trying to get high level fast, and more than half the quests and missions cap you are a specific level. What fun is it to make a character's level as high as you can, then don't have the room to hold lower level armor or weapons. I truly want to role play this FF XI as if it were an RPG. Like I said I played Dungeons and dragons, now that was true RPG. I had a friend join my LS and they even passed out some pearls, but no one wants to Role Play, and make the most out of a character's job. What fun is it, to level job after job when you can't use but one main and one sub. Anyway this game isn't bumming me out it's the players. I'm sure that after 5 months of trying to get somewhere in a game that is loosing it's following as it ages, and expansion packs change two months after they are sent out, I've come to find there's no point in playing a game that can't be soloed, unless you are so high it's pointless to play anyway. So I think I'm going to quit, don't need to make myself sicker by trying to play a game even kids can't play right. Not to mention the fact no one reads the code of conduct nor do people seem to care about anyone but themselves these days.

Warebear,

With the whole Return to Vana'diel campaign going on, is there any way you can switch servers over to Siren? My friends and I have a fairly active roleplaying shell there (check out the link in my signature for more details -- you have to register for the forums to be able to view what we have there, just FYI).

All of us have jobs at various levels, we've done all of the ToAU storyline together, we've gotten our Assault ranks together -- we do a lot of stuff. We have a few plots running at the moment.

If no one's into RPing on your server, hop on over to Siren and join the Silver Gryphons.

Not sure I'll be able to switch servers, I have six characters, 3 of which are what I guess some players are calling mules, the other's are for learning other races, at this time, it wouldn't be good for me to change servers since I have far to much stuff I don't want to loose yet. Thanks for the kind offer, and am glad to see that not all servers have people with no imagination and bore to easily. I may make a new hume on this other server, if I can't get my Bendaire character into a level where his Dragoon can role play with more fun. I'm looking for people who want to role play and maybe start at the beginning of the game. Not sure if I'll keep playing once my move is over. But I'm taking a bit of a break from the game, because it's not the game making me feel like quitting, It's the players who think they know everything, and don't know half of what they are talking about. To know how you can do something in a game is nothing when knowing how to really save another humans life.

I completely understand not wanting to switch servers if you have a lot of stuff. I'm not sure if they can just switch over one character at a time, or if they can move a whole account. Might be something to look into. If they can switch the entire account over, you should be able to switch your mules over as well.

Sure, feel free to come over to Siren and join our LS. It's kind of quiet right now since some of the players live in EST and have to get up early in the morning, but that'll be changing soon.

We definitely do a lot of roleplaying, and we have done a bit of stuff with doing ZMs, CoP, and whatnot all with an RP twist to it.

Well, don't let a few bad apples spoil your fun. I've come to realise the fact that no one (except for a few) actually RPs in this game anymore, which is unfortunate; it really adds a whole new level of creativity and fun to it all.

hey guys

ive never been a huge rp fan but i love any ff game but find ff11 lacking, making a game that mainly evolves around partying but then a community of very annoying and unreliable players kinda kills the idea, i would be willing to give it a shot and i know for definite my friend would join he is huge D&D fan, contact me in game SephirothSmith

Sorry I haven't written here or been playing FFXI for a while, I am in the process of moving, not to mention I've gotten a bit bored with the game. I'm not sure I'll upgrade FFXI with it's new wings of the goddess thing, but moving is making playing a bit hard right now, if I'm online please feel free to say hi, I don't know if I have any of my LS pearls out anymore, but I would still like to setup parties to do missions, quests and job leveling, and if I do upgrade it would be nice to get more of the quests done. I can't gain rank 4 in Bastok because I can't do the tower alone and when I am online it seems people want my help but wont help me. Anyway hope to be playing soon, have fun.
