Hello all.
Im new to MMORPGs and FFXI. I think Ive been playing for maybe 30 mintues and am in Windurst. Yet there are few other people. I do not run into many. Is this common? Someone told me the World Ragnarok's population was 1914. It doesnt seem like much for a big place. Are others more or less populated or what?
Its just I know FFXI is a team game and it seems hard to run into people to form a group.

the population here really sucks during NA time and alot during JP time.
JP time i see almost 4k, NA time its not often it breaks 2k.

There are still people around.
Starter cities are usually less populated though this is changing a little with the recent introduction of some new teleport options.
Also Windy is a big place so in 30 minutes you'll not have seen the whole area.
Generally you won't be looking to party up for exp until around level 10 when you will probably head to Valkurm Dunes (which isn't as bad as people say, just seems to have a bad rep lol).

...talking in Valkurm Dunes, IMO, Valk is "Da Place" that will be in your memories forever.
It will be the 1st place you ever get a party (full), besides, it's a beach ^^

Ragnarok isn't what it used to be. That can be said about any other server, however, as the game is getting on in its years. If you're a night owl, you can expect to play with a lot of JP (if they aren't JP only). NA/EU times are a mix bag, but it isn't that hard to get a party. It might take time, yes, but its not an entirely lost cause.
My Wife and I just restored our characters after a Year Break. Sounds like not much has changed. :p
