Hello everyone.
I decided that I have been messing out a lot of stuff lately on Final Fantasy XI.
I mean, I need advice and stuff. >.>;

I have many videos that have been posted somewhere before, but since I lost the threads and all..

I decided to put 1 video every little while, and wish that whoever is not busy would download it, and after watching it.. would tell me about all of my mistakes, be rude >.>;

And give me pointers. /bow

I'll start with the first video. ^^

I'll bite, but I probably wont be rude. I've recently started to play w/ videos myself. Are you asking for technical critique or style? The picture quality looks alot better than mine do. (but I play on an xbox and capture through my vcr, so there's alot of places to lose quality.)

one thing i noticed is that its definitely not very sexy. Some music you like that sets the mood is one idea. Also if you don't want to show the entire fight (maat fights aren't a good example of this), break your clips up into smaller takes, cutting out the parts that don't add to the drama.

keep it up man. I'm getting more comfortable each week with my editing program and overall setup. Definitely takes some time though. Have fun w/ the vids :)

if u see me online and wanna bs about vids, send me a tell.

Rdm play varies a lot depending on the situation. Unfortunately, from this fight I can't get a completely accurate idea of your rdm gameplay. I've also never fought rdm maat, so can't comment much on that either... (does he resist silence and gravity?)

There are a few things I can help you with as far as macroes.. First, i'll assume you use windower in order to be able to record this video. There are some very helpful windower macroes that allow more than 6 lines in a macro and can be vital for top notch rdm play. Rukenshins Livejournal has a nice description of how to use these.. http://rukenshin.livejournal.com/14854.html

In your stoneskin macro I noticed you didn't swap to mind gears.. Here is a helpful link to maximize efficiency of enhancing spells. http://www.max-evolution.com/rdmffxi.php
It's actually quite easy to hit the cap for stoneskin (350 damage) So I'll use other lines in this macro to equip gears I like to idle in.. Here's an example of my stoneskin macro..

input /equip ring2 "Communion Ring";
input /equip head "Duelist's Chapeau";
input /equip neck "Faith Torque";
input /equip body "Dalmatica";
input /equip hands "Yigit Gages";
input /equip ring1 "Communion Ring";
input /equip back "Merciful Cape";
input /equip waist "Penitent's Rope";
input /equip legs "Jet Seraweels";
input /equip feet "Yigit Crackows";
input /ma "Stoneskin" <me>

While on the topic of mind gears, they will also help the potency of some of your most important enfeebling spells, paralyze and slow. The ratio of your mind to the enemies determines the exact potency. I use 2 paralyze macroes and 2 slow (II) macroes. The first of each equips maximum mind gear and the second maximum enfeebling skill. This way, if the high potency spell gets resisted (this is very rare, usually only on top tier HNM like Cerberus or Ouryu) I can hit the other macro and cast in full enfeebling gear to have a better chance of landing the spell.

Finally, from the looks of it you use solely keyboard for gameplay. A lot of people disagree with me, but I believe controller gameplay definitely provides more options, especially when it comes to casting on alliance members. You can hit the up or down arrows on the directional pad which allows for much easier target than tab or shift tab and attempting to locate them on screen.. Really fast typers may argue that they are just as fast, but for me the controller helps out immensely..

Rdm is definitely the most complicated job in FFXI.. this is just a glimpse into the overall picture. I could write for pages and pages, but this should suffice for now! :p Hope it helps...

Thankies! :D

About the controller, I LOVE it! I just don't use it much because I still need to get used to it.. I have been playing for more than a year using a keyboard, can't just switch to the controller all ofa sudden. xD

And no, I do not use Windower, I just use a program called Fraps, this program can record any game, and even stuff being played on any video player you have on your PC.

Thanks for all the tips regarding Stoneskin and Enhancing Magic. /bow
