Do you have any idea how incredibly cheap Demi would be? It cuts HP in half, and since EXP mobs have a lot of it... It would be total cheating really... And Petrify... well... SE didn't add it as a learnable spell for a reason, and that reason is I'm assuming that it's simply too powerful when used on the mob, and I can't complain. I mean it becomes completely unable to move or attack for a short (or long) time... Pretty cheap really. And just imagine it in ballista!!! x.X

Yeah it was 1/4. It's still too much damage though. Manaburn parties already kill stuff fast enough. >:D

As for the other stuff:

Meteor: Carbuncle already does this to some extent.

Berzerk: WARs already do this.

Confuse: BSTs already do this.

Reflect: Since there are no enemies that I know of who only attack using magic, I think this spell would do more harm than good. You don't want to reflect cures onto enemies, and you don't want to take away your ability to nuke enemies.

Reraise (on other people): If Phoenix is one of the new avatars in ToAU (as is rumoured), then this may be a possibility.

Petrify: This may end up as a Blue Mage ability.

ok so there are some reasons but for bazerk what i ment was berzerk on the enemy making them ONLY attack as for meteor i mean an ACTUAL BLM spell meteor something coming out of the sky and creating major havic. as for demi it was 1/2 and i can c where that would be a prob so they just lesson its effect or accuracy. as for petrafy also lower the ability make it sort of like stun but last just a bit longer. and reflect WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT there are a TON of mobs that use magic for attacks such as gobs, ghosts, worms, quadivs and more. im not saying that we bring them in without addapting to the ffxi rules i mean yeah demi would be very cheep so bring it down to like 1/8 or something. there are always ways to change but i thhink they would be a good addition.

That's kind of what they do already...

Again, BLMs do enough damage already.

No. It was 1/4.

This I can see. Make Demi take off a smaller percentage. It would also be cool if the spell was a relatively quick cast, and carried only a small amount of enmity with it, making it a good opening attack for a BLM.

Yes, but I said there are no enemies that only cast spells. Those Goblins, ghosts, worms, Quadavs, and more will cast a spell on you, smack you 5 times, then cast another spell. Would you rather reflect that one spell per 20 seconds, or would you rather cure your tank after they get smacked 5 times?

/sigh ok let me tweek my sayings again.

meteor = never 2 much damage XD

Demi = yeah ur right i was thinking of something else

reflect = make it so after its on you it gos away after like 20 sec so you can do a quick dodge.

bazerk(on mobs) =
''example''
beach pugil readys screwdriver
ragnarokk casts bazerk
beach pugil attacks ragnarokk for 50

this way it dosnt do like 200 ^^

I would like to see demi as well. However, instead of less damage and little emnity, keep the damage at 1/4 of current hp, or 1/8 of max hp, and have major emnity on it. Make it almost like a WHM hitting benediction. So you keep the damage, but it becomes a last resort. Might make it difficult to stick as well.

NMs would, of course, have some sort of resistance to it. If I remember right, many bosses in previous FF titles had resistance to demi as well, so it wouldn't break the continuity.

This would help control BLMs from overusing such a powerful spell. It would be suicide to a BLM to use it unless a PLD was around to go invincible.

With all of this, high mp cost would have to go allong with it. Might be interesting if the mp cost was a percentage as well. 1/4 current mp for 1/4 current hp might make a mage think twice about hitting it at the top of a battle for major damage.
