I haven't been on the FFVI server forums for a very long time, but I hopped in to see this post by happenstance.

Machina has been gone for years now I am sorry to say. After I left the game, Velderin took over leadership, and after Veld left I gather the remaining members went over to a shell called Spaceballsthels.

My info is over a year old though, so it may be way outdated.

I heard Veld still plays casually, and so does Exx (Eximer) I hope you can get in contact with one of those two and find a good shell with good peeps. (It's the part I miss most about FFXI.... the friends)
