I just rejoined the game after a bit of a break. I mostly rejoined because I heard that the game is not as time consuming as it used to be, which is great. I did try FFXIV when it came out and face-palmed miserably like all the other people who bought that steaming pile of.... well, let's keep it polite.

I used to play on Valefor, but it seems most of my friends are gone. I decided to start fresh on Phoenix, after hearing that the server seems to be pretty friendly. So far, I really like it here.

Today I was leveling outside Windurst, when I saw another character at my level(13) who also didn't have a subjob. It was an Elvaan warrior still wearing his level one RSE, and a sword. I chuckled a little and invited him to group. We chatted and had a good time leveling up in the Canyon. Once we hit 18, I knew we should focus on getting our subjob items.

After going back to Windurst and selling crystals, and getting new gear, I saw a high level Summoner with their flag for LFG. His name was Partie. My main used to be Summoner, and I plan to get it back as soon as I have my Red Mage high enough to solo all the painful fights I need to go through, (Carby Mitts, Avatar Primes, etc). So I politely told him that myself and my friend were looking for help with the subjob quest. Sure enough, he said alright.

Now, I could go on about how cool he was. How he not only got both of us our subjob items. Or that he killed a NM and gave me the drop, which was a really cool staff with a cure%+ on it. Or how he stayed after we got our subjobs and helped us level a little bit more, just to try and get us to an even 20. Or even how as he was just fooling around, he split the sky open and shot lazors out of it. They were all like, "pew pew pew," and the leech went, "O.O **** just take it!" and dropped a Carbuncle's Ruby for me. :D

But what I wanted to point out was that he is a really cool guy that took time to help people who couldn't even offer him anything. He already has everything a summoner could want, just short of AF3+2. He even has that damned bath-robe.... (Slightly jealous about the YYR). So I'm very happy I chose Phoenix. Thank you, Partie, for helping a couple of noobs get their subjobs.

All of that said.... Are there any LS's out there that still do old missions? I'm looking for a LS that has a strong community with good-natured players that might help me get set up. (Kazham Keys, Rank 5, etc). I pull my own weight, and don't mind helping others. Just the problem is I need to get higher level before I can help anyone else.

I've heard about the Reformation ls, but I haven't seen anyone on.

If anyone wants a Rdm, (going to main Summoner once I get my RDM high enough to spruce it up), please give me a /tell.

Heartfire, reporting for duty. :D

Hi. I too am a new returning player and have had the same type of experience. An 85 bst named Inflicter ran me through my subjob quest and took the time to catch me up on some new stuff in game. ( I haven't played in about 6 years). Anyway phoenix so far has been great. I too am looking for a cool old school ls. If you find one look me up. Raliziel

Welcome to Phoenix Smiley: grin!

I would have to say that Reformation is probably the best bet for a new/returning player LS because that is what they do, but there are a lot of friendly social LS's out there!

I'm not a sack holder in my current LS, but I did invite a friendly noob on Tuesday ... Smiley: wink wait, what?!? Why does the name Heartfire sound familiar? Hehe!

Yup, thanks Els. But I made this post the day before you let me in. :D

Too bad I'm in a completely different time zone than most of the LS... xD

Yuppers, that part definitely sucks. We do have some peeps that stay on all night though ... and on weekends I am usually on pretty late. Hopefully we can meet up and work on some of your Avatars (get your fame up!)

I am! I am!

But I quickly realized that RDM is an expensive job to level. (Other than just not buying spells and doing the Derp-warrior with MP). I mean, really. Invisible alone costs 30k on this server. What the HELL?!

I quickly decided whoever thought I was paying 30k for any low level scroll in a world where I can level thf to 50 in a few hours can s*ck a nice fat one. (Pardon the vulgarity, but really. 30k for that? Puh-lease).

So the current plan is to level Dancer and Thief. I'm gonna take THF up to Maat, for a quick and easy limit break. And I'm unsure if I want to go THF/DNC or DNC/THF, but I need a good farming character for fame. (Need Yag beads, Bat Wings, and Zehrun Soot, to say the very least). I know THF would be better for that, but I think Chocobo Jig might be worth it for other things. So we'll see. Considering how fast I got RDM to 50, I wouldn't be surprised if this just took me a week or two.

I think my biggest problem is getting the limit breaks out of the way. I'd love to just sit down and grind out to 90, but stopping every 5 levels gets annoying ><!

Any advice for me, Els? (Seeing as you are a Dancer)

I love the being able to go out on dnc and kill stuff because it is not a squishy job, like my mages. I have only leveled thf to 8, LOL, so I don't know much about it. Nor/Isttahl plays a thf and he really enjoys it. I definitely see a difference in drop rates when I am farming before he shows up and after. So I would suggest thf if the purpose is to farm.

I agree that scrolls are ridiculously stupid on this server, so let me know what you need and we can look for more cost efficient means to hook them up! I will be on all weekend, so lets see what we can get done. We have voidwatch tomorrow night (I think) and limbus Saturday night, but that only takes 45-60 min.

Hey
So I was part of Reformation, however we had an issue and we started a new LS. Most of us are still playing, the new LS is huge. Check out this post
Also here are the same names of people who are sack holders:
Bizniztyme
Diogenes
Galaktus
Lonan
Pilate
Shiner

If you still need a LS, we could be the right one for you. We have people across the board at levels, we do missions. The only thing that has kind of changed from the idea of Reformation to now is the way we level and do old content. Old school 6-man parties don't really get done, and we hardly ever sync down to do a mission for the "old hard" feeling.

As to your post on DNC vs THF, I would go THF for TH for better drops. Chocobo Jig is cool, but it isn't game breaking. You move about 3 steps faster (doesn't work while in combat or getting hit).

edit: and if i would read the rest of the thread... Smiley: lol
If you want another LS pack with people, you can still get a pearl/

Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it. But the problem is I'm on at a different time than most people. For personal reasons, I am currently one the opposite side of the world from EST. So... it gets difficult to find people on at my time. Els is super cooli though. Luv her to death, (with RR of course).

If you think there are people on that speak English or German, during JP prime time, I would welcome a pearl. But for now, Els and Co. have been super friendly and helpful, (when I get to see em).
