Life of a white mage in WindyFollow

Dear Mum,
How are you and Da, and Bastok? Life here in Windhurst is pretty interesting so far, and just like you said Mum, I get to see so many exciting sights. Like the time I was fighting a Tiny Mandragora and dying, I was defeated next to this really nice spot on Starfall Hillock where I think you and Da might enjoying picnicking at next time you come out. Life as a White mage promises to be entertaining though, even though I wanted to follow in Da's foot steps and be a paladin. And aside from having to run from Savanah Rarabs all the time life as a healer is pretty fulfilling, I get to practice my curing skills, and well, like I mentioned above, I've become a real good runner, yeah?

Life in the Big City here is very interesting as well, you know, I think my career is really going somewhere, I've recently signed up with the Star Onion Brigade, very tough chaps and all, but odd thing is, these adventurers seem to be getting younger and younger. Ah well. While I'm still having some difficulty learning the local markets and customs here, I must say the townsfolk are very polite and kind. Why, just the other day as I was being ravaged by a Magicked Bones, ripped limb from limb, some other adventurers came along after hearing my cries for help and offered me very useful tips, smiling and waving like I was the Queen of Vana'Diel and saluting me and all after I was defeated. Such people are why my life as an adventurer are worthwhile you know… now if I could just get these bleeding children everywhere in the City to tell me where there parents are, life would be right keen, I suspect.

Well, I'd write you more mum, but that bird over there is looking at me funny and-

WHOOPS gotta run!

Cheers!

Your daughter, Paksenarrion.

You sound like you could use some help from another Windurst mage :)

Do a "/befriend ganiman". I'd love to help out someone new to Windurst! I'll even give you a pearl for the FantasyWarriors linkshell. A good amount of the members are going through what you are. It'll help you find some decent parties too :)

I'm on most nights, I shouldn't be hard to find.

Dear Mum and Da,
Hello from toasty Selbina! This has to be the most beautiful land in all of Vana'Diel, (well, except for the constant sounds of screaming, the blood stains splattered on the sand, and the skin blistering heat) I really think you ought to vacation here after the holidays start, just to get away from boring old Bastok. There's plenty of pinicking places, although I might suggest packing a lunch that can be eaten on the run.

I've met several nice adventurers here, and even though most of them are dying and screaming for help while I am running away from goblins, they really do seem like a pleseant, hardy lot of good folk. There is a variety of flora and fauna here as well, and I'd describe it to you, but as I learned from watching a fellow adventurer (misfortunate fellow, really) you really shouldn't get all that close to pretty much anything --lest that slight cloud of smog turns out to be a Bogy which then dines on you for lunch.

I really seem to get along here well, and soon as my sunburn heals enough that I can leave this crack in the rock wall that I jammed myself into to escape a Ghoul I plan on visiting the sheep in town again, and counting them, which I seem to enjoy for hours at a time. Oddly, I tend to fall asleep during this activity, and wake up with no money.

Speaking of gil, I was wandering if you might not spare a few coin for your loyal, hard working daughter who is out here in the sands healing people? You see, not that I want to dwell on my own misfortunes, its just that I'm a rather poor fisherwoman here, and there really isn't any sort of proper bakery, and I wouldn't ask, it's just that um, well, I haven't eaten in so long that I pass out if I stand up for any lengthy period of time.

The nicest thing about Valkurm is the weather. Sunny all the time, and pleasant tempuratures that remind me of our bakery rooms. If you put aside the sounds of desperate battle and the futile cries for help around you, close your eyes and whatnot, you can inhale the sea air (try to avoid getting near a recent massacre area) and imagine all is a relaxing vacation! Shame that so many taru roast alive in the heat, but that seems to be keeping the Galkans happy. Those silly Galkans, aren't they just something else?

As you expect, I've made several friends here (including the owner of the sheep, who let me pay him a few gil to count his sheep for him, I told you how exciting I find that, yes?) amongst adventurers, who are a sight more friendly thanthe goblins. Unfortu nately, I might have to leave here soon, as I accidently healed the monster the leader of my link thingy was fighting, apparently the name Gabrielle and Goblin are really NOT that similar, haahaa, well you know, so now her gang seems to think thhat I'm interested in their knives; everytime they see me, they pull out their knives and come running, as though displaying their weaponry to me were the largest deligt of their day. Not that I don't mind admiring good tools, Da, as you do, but this is so ridiculus I've taken to hiding under te docks when I see them and hear their eager shouts. Still, its nice to know no real harm is done.

And about the gil?

Love
Paksenarrion,
Valkurm Vacationer extrodinaire

Dear Mum and Da
Thank you verry much for the sack of fishgills you sent me! Not exactly what I meant when I asked for gil, but Da is such a hoot! Anyway, I'm writing from the bunk I share with Olga in Norg... long story, but I hope to make it back to Bastok just as soon as I pay the pirates back.

Pirates are a bunch of nice folk, once you get past their silly sensibility about things *like tying me to a post on their ship after rescuing me from the sinking Selbina ferry, although that did keep me from going over board when the seas got rough, nice of them, no?* and understand that despite that whole rape pillage and plunder bit is just showy stuff for their reputation...

I'm sorry my hand writing is so messy this time round, but as they keep me chained next to the bed near the sink where I wash dishes in exchange for good if only slightly rotting food, it makes it hard to find a good spot to write on... Olga, bless her goblin heart, seems to object to being used as a writing desk, which I suppose is understandable. Thankfully my arm will heal in time, and I'll remember not to surprise her by speaking to her when she's asleep.

In any case, my adventures have stopped somewhat (although food posioning from washing dishes cooouuuld be considered adventurous) after I was rescued from the ocean, but that was an exciting if somewhat tragic time.

You see, I was on my way from Selbina to Mhaura after finally healing my sunburn enough to walk, and I was standing on the deck enjoying the invigorating sea air when this beautiful star-shaped creature flopped over the side of the ship and onto the deck. It was, as most creatures in Vana Diel, a thing of exquisite beauty, with tiger stripped star tentacles and oddly shaped wings on its head. Well, as I stood there transfixed, it struck me as confusing that all the other passengers on deck were running below, screaming and scrambling to be first indoors. However, it quickly became apparent that the creature was having an argument with a high ranking Paladin who was trying valiantly to buy more time for panickd passengers to get below decks. Seeing thar the brave knight was hurt, I quickly cast a healing spell on him mid combat with the creature, yet, as I rushed below, I saw that it was not enough, and the beautiful yet violently confused creature finished him rather quickly. I mourned him as I went below, yet the surprises were just beginning.

This creature the pirates later told me, was called a Sea Horror, and now I understand why. Normally unfettered creatures given wide enough space, a sea horror becomes violent near adventurers (seems my luck lately) and by healing the unfortunate man, I enraged the creature further.

Down below, I thought with doors firmly shut that I was safe from the creature, but lo, the Sea Horror truely lived up to its name, as it opened doors with a tentacle and slew one passenger after another in seeking me out for healing that man. Panicked, I leapt over dying passengers as the sea horror struck them down one after the other and I raced upstairs, only to see that the ship was being boarded by my kind benefactors, the Norg Pirates.

Dodging a ships wight, I ran and leapt overboard, landing on a pirate with the Sea Horror in hot pursuit. Luckily the pirates saw the monster and managed to get their ship away fast enough so that the Sea Horror was left on the ferry, which I later learned lost all souls ... and while I mourn those poor unfortunates, I sit here chained to my bed, thsnking the pirates for saving me, and reminding myself daily to boycott such a dangerous travel service. Honestly! I should ask them for my fare back!

In any case, dishes must be done, so I'll have to go. I hope Olga doesnt burn this letter as well, shes a sweetheart with a wild sense of humor that way, but this is the thirtieth draft I've composed.

And Da, can you please send me real gil this time? I kinda need it to pay my ransom..... although I'm sure these nice Norg folk are just joking about planks and sharks and all.

Much love,
your Nice Norg Next o kin,
Paksenarrion.

PS When you visit, take a chocobo, much safer I hear.

Sneak out into Norg and hire a Teleport-Mea, or to some other crag you have the crystal for! And cast Poisona/Cure on your wounds! Or, I can come rescue you! Huzzah!

But seriously, good posts :)

You sure you don't want some webspace?

WE MUST SAVE Paksenarrion!!!

We must find her and retrieve her from the depths of those scoundreling pirates! Only Lord Atlanta knows what she is going through right now.

We must Sound the alarms of righteousness everywhere. We shall not stand another minute while a fellow adventurer remains imprisoned. Let our swords, our arrows, and our magic free this girl from her bonds and deliver her to the free world. You have my bow...

*psychs up with surging rage*

We will save you Paksenarrion! Or we will die trying...
