When I was a youngster and perusing the bookstore or library for reading material, as well are reading the synopsis on the back cover, I'd check out the map, usually right after the index page, and see how interesting 'the world' looked. It told it's own story.
Middle Earth was of course the grand daddy of all make-believe maps and was my standard to measure against.
Today i found the Tardis on Google Map places. They even got inside the phone booth with their street view cameras.
But look here - It's Google 'Middle' Earth.
The kid me is blown away.
