I'd accept $7.50, simply because that link made me laugh at least.

Since 99.99% of SF movies fail the "no sound carries in a near vacuum" test I've given up quibbling on the Science in Fiction. I'm just here for the explosions, star-fields, running around, scantily clad cannon fodder and long moments in small boxes.

Damn, Star Wars would suck so bad if it was scientifically correct. It worked in A Space Odyssey, but only because the absence of sound enhanced the atmosphere of the movie. Star Wars without space sounds would blow chunks of unprecedented proportions. It would be like The Lord of the Rings if it was scientifically correct. Wizard, you say? Nay, try illusionist...

I love it when people pick a sci-fi movie apart because of things like sound in space. No, sound can't travel through vacuum, that's correct, but what're your thoughts on the omnipresent camera filming it all?

There's not an omnipresent camera filming it all... that's not how story telling works.

Edit:
Just to be clear, I've never had an issue with sound in space from an audience point of view. I think it'd be different if there were characters in the story standing on Earth, and Mars blew up and everyone heard the explosion. If the audience was watching the Mars blow up from behind that Fourth Wall and they could hear it? Big deal.

But the majority of the gripes about this film aren't about those audience perspective type things.

I rationalize sound in space away as it being the sounds that the pilots / crew would hear transferred through the metal / ceramic / etc. of the hull and into the atmosphere. The laaser doesn't make a noise, but maybe the capacitor that fires it does, etc.

There's a difference between stuff done for purely stylistic reasons (sound in space, space fighters improbably needing to 'bank' to make a turn, etc) and getting the basic science behind the foundation of your movie completely and hilariously wrong (evolution).
