Could be that his job for Carrol is to make sure Hardy doesn't get killed by the other killers. Once he's got Hardy's trust, he'll be able to lead Hardy and the investigation in whatever directions Carrol needs/wants.

Since no one else posted. There was about 10 seconds where I thought "guess the young guy isn't a follower after all". But then, he's wearing a vest. Surprise! Lol.

Got a new theory, which would be epic if their whole intention is to just do a one shot one season thing. Hardy is in on the whole thing. He and Carrol were both unsatisfied with the outcome of their last encounter (Carrol in prison, Hardy kicked out of the FBI), both their books didn't do so well, so they're collaborating on the sequel. The whole thing's just a big performance. Oh yes. You heard it here first. It would be a great twist though, wouldn't it?

Well... If that one didn't make you doubt it, this one probably did.

I mean, I'm sure it still could happen, but things aren't looking good.

I cannot say I am happy with the finale.

I haven't bothered to look up whether or not it's been renewed for a second season, but I wasn't too happy with how quickly they made Carroll go so completely bat **** insane and lose it. He was smart and calm for most of the season, then in the span of two or three episodes snaps, makes all these mistakes, seemingly just so they could wrap it up the way they did. And I wasn't too happy with what they were doing, but accepted it. Then they showed crazy crying girl at the end in the diner. I assumed she was going to show up with the delivery to try and get revenge on Ryan. Nope, completely ignore her and bring in crazy ex girlfriend to stab everyone, the end.

1. Because having him go atypically crazy makes the reveal of him having planned the whole thing (and his escape down the trap door in the safe area carefully placed within a circle of gas drums) all the more of a surprise twist. It only works if the audience is convince that he's not behaving rationally and the whole plan (and his story) is falling apart. So if they get a second season, they go that way. If not, they've book ended it as a complete story.

2. Had to be the ex-girlfriend, since otherwise she had no purpose to the story. They introduced her a few episodes before the end for no other reason than so it wouldn't be some random cultist who attacks Hardy at the end.

3. Crying crazy girl is there to show that the spirit of what Joe was doing lives on in the hearts and minds of his followers. Allows for another avenue for sequels if they choose to go that route. Also, if #1 turns out to be true, it'll strengthen the unwavering (and even self sacrificing) support his followers will provide in said potential second season. It's called foreshadowing.

I really ended up losing interest around the time they moved to the Mansion. Just watched it because I had already made it that far.

I wasn't expecting two seasons, so I was expecting a better conclusion to the story than what was given. But now that I know it's got a second season, I still think they could have handled the transition between the two better. Don't ask me how, but something just didn't feel right about it. It felt rushed and didn't fit the characters.

Yeah, it was ok. I might watch next year, I might not. Honestly, Person of Interest is MUCH more exciting right now. Holy crap at last night's episode and it's not even the finale yet.

The only new show from this past season that I'm really looking forward to season 2 of is The Americans.

/agree. I'm totally enjoying Person of Interest. I really like how they've managed to marry an episodic format to a larger story, while maintaining a very interesting bit of mystery about Finch and his true history and motivations. They've struck just the right balance IMO, and the series works well.
