Remake?

Trailer

Seems a little too "real". I remember watching them as a young kid and they were over the top to the point of comedy. Everything shown in the trailer just seems gruesome and grotesque. But I guess it did show a woman with a possessed hand getting ready to cut it off with a turkey carver or some other electric knife. And apparently tentacle rape...

Looks like they A-movied it. And, from my understanding no Bruce Campbell so twice the meh for me.

And yes, I'll watch it.

In the first movie Ash's sister was raped by a deadite possessed tree.

Apparently Ashely is a girl this time. Smiley: lol

Good Ash, Bad Ash... she's the Ash with a ******!

Edit:
I was a really young when I saw the first one, don't remember much from it. Obviously the one I remember the most is Army of Darkness.

Whoever remade this movie clearly misunderstands why it's popular. I'll pass, and try my best to forget that it exists.

Without promise of an awesome remake of Army of Darkness, I'm not interested. Also, I'm not sure you can do Army of Darkness without Bruce Campbell.

Yeah, first movie freaked me out just because of that part. It didn't get "over the top" until the last 10 minutes or so, when horror went out the window, and the director seemed to say "Let's just give Bruce Campbell a blood bukkake for the next few minutes."

Never saw the third (which means I'm missing out on the best one, apparently), but the second (which, if I recall correctly, was another remake of the first) was pretty goofy.

The second was more like a version 1.5 than a remake of the first or an actual sequel. It kind of changed a bit of what happened in the first movie, while adding more after where the first movie left off.

And yes, you really do need to see Army of Darkness.

Evil Dead (Original): A Pure 70s horror movie based off of Raimi/Campbell's college movie "Cabin in the Woods" (Also a horror movie, albeit a "no budget" horror movie).
Evil Dead 2: A Campy "remake" of Evil Dead with the same star & director. Bigger budget, more of a blend of horror & slapstick.
Army of Darkness: Pure @#%^ing win. All "Camp"bell. I also got to 3rd base for the first time in my life during a USA Up All Night showing of this when I was in highschool.
Evil Dead (2012): A Remake of the first.

Evil Dead (2012) is not sacrilegious & I'll happily see it when it comes to netflix/cable. It looks pretty good, honestly. As I genuinely enjoy scary movies, I hope it's at least on par with Sinister, which thus far is the best "conventional" horror movie I've seen this year. (Prometheus & V/H/S don't count, as even though I though both were "better" than Sinister, neither are "conventional" horror flicks.)

So the Evil Dead remake is based off of the Cabin in the Woods remake? Makes sense.

Sam Raimi's Cabin in the Woods has nothing to do with Weadon's.

Except there's a cabin, teenagers, & monsters.

No Mermen in Raimi's, though.

Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are both involved as producers, though Fede Alvarez is the director. The Ash character is replaced by a female lead, which I think is a pretty good idea. I think that having a male lead trying to play Ash would have been a mistake because it would just draw too many comparisons with Campbell in the original movies, and I think creating a little distance will be beneficial to the new movie's reception.

My only problem is that they showed the group having a dog in the trailer, and I hate when horror movies feature animal mutilation. For whatever reason, you can do pretty much whatever to the human characters, but touch the family mutt and I can't watch. Smiley: lol

I think it'd be awesome if they basically keep this and Ash's stories separate, and in a future movie have whoever survives this meet up with an older Ash, and not just as a cameo.

The only thing I'm hoping the remake accomplishes is paving the way to the Freddie vs Jason vs Ash movie.

Lot of evil plant life in the past; don't want a repeat of the tree incident to happen with a rose bush do we?

In other news, The Cabin in the Woods was really enjoyable Smiley: grin

I've also had Tucker and Dale vs Evil recommended to me.
