Apparently Kirito can dual wield in ALO too? Is this game mechanics or another special trait to be explained later?
If I'm remembering correctly, isn't it related to him having the ability to process two different command streams at once? In a way, he's not using a dual wield skill, he's processing two single weapon skill sets at once.

To be fair, I think most of his skills were maxed, so I took it as the equivalent of a level 60 in starter gear beating a level 50 in great gear. And while the other player may have been playing for around a year, Kirito spent longer than that in SAO, which is built on the same engine. Sure it may be a bit ridiculous, but it's plausible.

Just a reminder I'm spoilering SAO not just because not everyone is up to date on it, but also because I'm mostly trashing it. So buyer beware.

According to the SAO wiki, his skills from SAO transferred over, and yes his sword skill was maxed. However, the cap is 1000, and it was stated that the Salamander dude has at least 950, if not capped in his sword skill. Salamander dude sword is also the second strongest in the game according to the wiki. (I bet you can guess who later gets the strongest).

Kirito was the best at SAO, but he also happens to be the best at ALO apparently. That's incredibly unlikely. The best CS players are surely good at TF2, but they aren't instantly the absolute best after 2 days. The best Starcraft players would probably play Warcraft very well, but not be the absolute best after 2 days. The best SF4 players would probably pick up guilty gear very quickly, but not be the absolute best after 2 days. This is all in comparison to an existing community which has a year or more of experience.

I now watch SAO to complain about it. That is how I have ended up enjoying it.

Additionally, there have been rumors/confirmations of Rozen MAiden S3, Kino no Tabi S2, Mushishi S2, More symphogear, Sailor Moon getting a remake. Lots to be excited about.

While you make some good points regarding relative power level, you also have to take into account that we don't know what the rest of Eugene's skill levels are.

Also, I suspect that Kirito's switch to dual wield turned him from a strong fighter in weak gear into an out of context problem. When you're in a world where no one else dual wields(I think), then you'll find that the sheer surprise that someone's not only doing it, but excelling at it, you're simply not prepared to deal with it. Kirito's the only DK in a 50-59 BG where everyone else is playing TBC only classes.

I was lazy before, so I combined the confirmations and rumors together. Rozen Maiden S3 is confirmed. Mushishi is looking very possible. Kino might be Gakuuen Kino, but still rumored.

I don't know, while Mushi Shi is good I felt like the anime ended on a positive note and doesn't need a second season.

This week on SOA: The two stupidest people on earth finally figure it out.

I mean, really? How did they not recognize each other the minute they met? Did she really not know his SOA name? Did he really not recognize the girl from the giant poster in here room? Did they not recognize each others voices?

I can roll with it and accept a lot of the crazy nonsense that goes on in this series, but that whole deal struck me as being incredibly stupid and has been annoying me for the past 6 episodes.

Also, anime once again reminds us that incest is cool.

I don't know, while something like Kirito and Leefa being brother/sister seems extremely obvious to a viewer, I don't think it's that unreasonable. Maybe the manga goes into more detail, but the two don't seem to speak much in real life and we have no clue about how open Kirito was about his experiences in SAO.

Now, I would be willing to believe that the plot is a little ridiculous, but the poster argument is really bull. I don't know how it is in Japan, but as an American, I almost never entered my brother's room as a kid (and I'm a guy). Why would I? It was his personal space. If I had a sister, I'd be even more reluctant (not that real life logic means anything in an anime). Simply because she has the poster does not mean he's ever seen it.

I'm more hung up on how his name was still available! Kirito would be famous in the gamer community for clearing SAO, yet no one took the name and no one recognizes the name in ALO?

Spoiled for people who are waiting to watch the show.

Perhaps it was already reserved for him due to the same bug that ended up giving him all those massive starting stat boosts?

Edit: I have nothing to say as to no one recognizing him. That really is just silly.

So SAO finally ended...

The ending was satisfying, though I have to wonder why they bothered making a 25th episode. The story ended at the end of episode 24 and episode 25 seemed like just a bunch of pointless explanation of things that didn't really matter to the story. Even the fight in the parking lot and the stuff about The Seed didn't really matter to the story as a whole. I doubt anyone would have batted an eye if 24 was the last episode.

It wasn't Mahoromatic final episode levels of pointless and bad or anything, but I was left scratching my head and wondering why the episode existed in the first place.

All in all, the last arc of SAO has felt quite rushed to me. I really think that they could have made it more satisfying as a 36 episode anime.

So, I read the ALO arc of the LN in the past few days, and I can comment on a few things.

Regarding Kazuto / Suzuha not recognizing each other in game: First, I think expecting voices to be reproduced faithfully in game is silly. This is never discussed in the book either, but it seems to me that reproducing the exact way someone's vocal chords produce sound is probably more complicated than just about anything else and unreasonable for the nervegear or its successor. So then, obviously appearance is changed for both of them so that's not an issue. As mentioned, there was never any reason for him to have been in her room, so the poster wasn't really an issue. It is specifically mentioned in the books that he has never shared his online handle with anyone, even though it is directly from his real name. And he never talked with her about SAO or any of the other games - in fact, it was kind of a point of contention between them. This also leads to the fact that he never would have thought that she played games - she had always shown a hostile attitude for them, even before SAO. Thus, I think it's very reasonable that they never discovered each others' identities.

Next - as for the name Kirito being available... that never really occurred to me. Why would someone take it? It's obviously unique. And how famous do you really think he became? I find this to be a really silly thing to find wrong with the show. As for no one recognizing him... he encountered barely more than a couple dozen people in the 2-3 days that this arc encompassed. Plus, how many of them actually learned his name? I can't imagine more than Lyfa, Recon, and maybe Sakura and the Cait Sith leader (can't remember the name), if that.

And finally, the complaints on the final episode - this pretty clearly stems directly from the LNs, which did have that entire final episode as part of the same chapter as the previous episode (not in an epilogue as expected), and though I haven't continued with the LNs there are several more of them so it seems obvious to me that it's just setting up for those. Plus it gave some closure and felt pretty good as far as epilogue episodes go, so I don't really have any complaints.

Just my thoughts, more than happy to discuss more if you disagree. I personally did not like this arc nearly as much as the SAO arc, though I will say I thought the ending for this arc was quite a bit better.

Interesting. I kind of wish they had touched on that at least briefly in the show. It wouldn't have taken long to get those points across and it would have alleviated my confusion about it. (and I doubt I'm alone in having wondered about those things.)

Yea, I think your confusion is understandable. I agree they could have done some things differently, but I hope it didn't ruin your enjoyment of the show too much. In other news, I finished the next set of LNs on a car trip yesterday, and I strongly wonder if they're going to try doing a second season for it...

They are. The light novels are selling ridiculously well. Blu-rays for the anime will probably top the charts. There is no way SAO will not get another season.

I've still got episode 24 and 25 to finish. I want to do it for completionist sake, but for the past few episodes I've paused for about 5 to 10 minutes extra to either sit and think about how awful the writing was or to double check something in the wiki because I can't fully believe it was originally intended.

Episode 24:
1:30 in and already I had to take a break and think about a few things. I'm reminded again of how ridiculous Yui being their fake daughter is. Did they really think that through? When Asuna is finally rescued and they're living a normal life are they going to drop in every day to say hi to an AI? Are they going to introduce her as a sister to their real child? Or is she going to be deleted after they get out and stop caring? I also had to chuckle at Kirito's rage that the game's main quest is a sham. You think after having his girlfriend kidnapped he'd have a better sense of priorities.

8:00 some great facial animations for Sugou.

9:00 Pain absorber? I know what the author wants to do, but that's a terrible way to go about it. It implies that they program in pain elements for every single action in the game, and then made a separate additional program to block all of that.

10:00 Well done execution of creepy, shame it's all going to waste.

12:00 Suddenly Kayaba, for no reason. And of course being angrier means being stronger.

13:00 Full on deus ex machina. It also seems as if Kirito should be able to log Asuna out now and solve everything, but I know he's going to have to fight Sugou in game, I just can't figure out why. Such an unnecessary and forced confrontation.

14:30 Praising Kayaba? The guy who is a mass murderer and imprisoned you for two years and directly lead to Asuna being captured? What is wrong with Kirito?

16:30 Asuna comforting Kirito, because he was the traumatized one.

19:00 Kayaba expects Kirito to reward him, gives him a seed, and then says he can delete it if he wants. Well ok.

20:10 Yui "We'll always be together." Oh naive Yui.

That's about all I can take for now.

I believe this is the most recent anime thread, so just going to put it here:

Kokoro Connect ended with 13 episodes, but 4 more were just aired recently.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-12-22/kokoro-connect-no.14-17-slated-for-december-30

I know episodes 14 and 15 have been released by rori fansub group with 16 and 17 in the works.

I do not know if other groups plan to sub these episodes, but I hadn't seen this mentioned yet, so it's something to keep an eye out for, especially if you prefer a specific group.

Finally finished SAO, and this is the last I plan on writing about it
Truly appalling. I wasn't entirely certain what episode would explore as 24 wrapped up most of the important details, but I never expected to be even more disappointed. Sugou is a terribly written character. He comes back for vengeance and makes the most halfhearted attempt I've ever seen. He's not even a one dimensional character, as nothing he does furthers his own goals. He only exists so that Kirito has someone to struggle against.

I gave it a 1 on MAL, which may seem like hyperbole. What made SAO so absolutely awful was that it squandered absolutely all of its potential. Everything it did well was then later spoiled and ruined. It continually became worse and worse.
