What did you not like about Death Note?

My recommendations
Durarara!! - From the creators of Baccano!
Bakemonogatari
Fate/Stay Night
Black Lagoon

Also check out Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood if you haven't seen that one. It contains some of the same material as the first FMA, but it stays truer to the manga.

Second on brotherhood, I just finished it, and I liked it a ******* more than the first anime, which I liked quite a bit.

Moshidora returns is guaranteed to be pretty awesome this season. If you haven't watched the first season go watch it now, it's 11 episodes awesome and @#%^ing amazing. Unfortunately the character designs for the second season are sh*t compared to the first season, but the plot/story should still be good.

Gundam Age is continuing to air, it's pretty good and takes place over three generations. The first two generations are over and the third one has about 10ish episodes left. If you only marathon/etc then you can watch the first 28 episodes like I did and wait for the rest to finish.

Does gundam age ever stop feeling like it was gundam written for 5 year olds? I wanted the first episode, and it felt like such an insult to the gundam series I couldn't stomach any more.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

I thought it was written for 5 year olds when I only looked at pictures. Then my mech friend told me how it was structured and I gave it a shot. I didn't get a 5 year old feeling from it at all.

Fate/Zero has a somewhat similar feel to Darker than Black. It tries to be a little bit more realistic in its combat in that the best way to kill most opponents is through assassination with sniper rifles or explosions and retarded duels. It avoids insulting the audience's intelligence by not explaining what just happened five seconds ago. And lastly it has some good dialogue. There is an entire episode that is almost nothing but people sitting around in a circle talking, and it's the best episode. Xypin recommended Fate/Stay night, which Fate/Zero is a prequel to. I might recommend against that, because Fate/Stay has a problematic protagonist and has worse source materiel. You might like Fate/Stay, but you'll definitely like Fate/Zero a lot more, and Fate/Stay isn't a requirement to watching Fate/Zero.

Ergo Proxy Is somewhat of a mystery shounen series set in a dystopian future where robots are contracting a a virus that gives sentience, the government administration is breaking down, and enigmatic entities known as proxies are on the loose.

Durarara!! and Black Lagoon also seem like they might fit your taste.

I recommend Fate/Stay Night before Zero, and UBW can be anywhere after Night. They pretty much assumed everyone had watched/read/played Night when making Zero. That and the quality of Night is lower than Zero so it'll be kinda meh to go from awesome to normal.

If you know you'll watch both yes, but the question is whether it's even worth bothering to watch Fate/Stay at all. I'm not certain for Demea it is.

I liked Fate Stay/Night.

I have a really nice 8 inch Saber figurine that my husband gave me. Smiley: blush

Saber in Stay Night felt like such a push over, though. Wha's his face really cannot do her justice. And besides, all I need is ******* Rider (from zero). That guy.... Smiley: laugh

I just finished the UBW arc of the VN, wondering if I should do the final arc or just start watching F/Z.

This anime seems like it's really gonna be ******* awesome. Only weird part is adjusting to richtits with colored silver hair, because silver hair always feels ******* weird to me.

Generally true, with one notable exception.

Although she is prettier with her natural hair color.

Two episodes in and I'm still as confused as I was during the first season. The show is hilariously awesome, but I have no clue what is going on - beyond that they're trying to find Horizon's Ultimate Weapons of Personality and Doom, that is

I don't like the new Accel World intro and ending that much. The old ones were way better.

Essentially, that. But also, the world got annihilated by some sort of something and every country except Japan was pretty much wiped out, so the survivors decided to reenact major events in human history to see just what about Japan kept it safe, but since Japan's the only inhabitable area on earth, they're all set on flying "nations" or something, and a lot of the people live in alternate "dimensions" of Japan, since Japan's land mass wasn't remotely big enough to house the survivors. Basically, it's an intentionally absurd setting to allow for absurdity in sci-fi tech as well as bizaare character representations. In other words, it's pretty much just an action-comedy-lovestory with a "setting? plot? who the **** cares? We're making jokes and blowing **** up, and there's going to be "d'aaaawwwwwwww" at the end!" and they're pulling it off excellently.

I liked the first intro, and the ending wasn't bad, but the new ones aren't wonderful.

Update: I finished watching Black Lagoon. I enjoyed it, but I didn't feel like the ending really did justice to all the work they spent setting up some turning points in character development that were just plain missed. Are there more than the 24 episodes?

Fate/Zero is next.

I think the 24 episodes that I watched included Second Barrage.

Wasn't Roberta the crazy maid/assassin?

That's correct. First and second season each have 12 episodes.

Roberta is the crazy maid, Roberta's Trail is an OVA involving her going even crazier.

If anyone is still trying to watch Joshiraku...

Some interesting links I found:
Story behind the ending song, which is made of awesome. Check it out if you can find it.
Notes for episode 1 and all other shows. I did not know gg subs produced these.

So I also found this... This is probably just a troll, but if it's true, it's major spoilers
Joshiraku is actually a story about despair and grimdark. Everything is just a dream.
Marii in coma (think about that fake Doraemon bad ending)
IRL probably raped by parents and doctors
Parents still needs money to make her survive
Tetora was just a famous person on TV, not actually a friend. She is the MC because Marii admires her really much.
Kukuru is actually the medic that will pull the plug
Kigu is actually her hidden desire to have a fun and happy life.
Gan is her desire to be a cool and assertive

This show is like Madoka but subtle. Very subtle. Remember that this show was made by the same author a SZS.

Despair, despair everywhere. But that’s so subtle, you can’t really catch this if you don’t pay attention to everything.

Genius show. Poor Marii ;_;

I have no clue if this is just someone messing with people or if it's actually true. Any idea?

Fate/Zero finished. Thoroughly enjoyed that one, although it did bring to mind again the strange fascination the Japanese seem to have with Christianity. Seriously, they can't make a series about a Jewish/Muslim/Hindu guy that fights demons/vampires?

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is up next, mostly by virtue of being on Netflix (50" flat screen + couch > 27" monitor + chair).

Unfortunately you're starting to reach the limit of series that are safely inside your zone of tastes.

Durarara!! is much like Baccano!, and Jorgumand is a little like Black Lagoon. Ergo Proxy is also in line.

If you're looking to branch out a bit more into stories that are still mature and unique, but not necessarily containing a lot of action or overly manly protagonists then I have a few series you might find worth watching.

Paranoia Agent is a psychological drama about the interweaving circumstances of the characters affected by a mysterious figure known as shounen bat.

Kemonozume is a gritty and surrealist romance story involving the love between a female flesh eater monster and a man from the clan sworn to slay them.

Mononoke (and the last arc of Ayakashi) is a mystery/supernatural series that delves into eclectic Japanese history and Buddhist mysticism.
