Question! Where the hell are Meera and Jojen Reed? Shouldn't they be turning up around now?

I hope I'm wrong cause I was looking forward to seeing Jojen and Meera but they should have been introduced by now so I'm guessing they've cut them out of the series and Osha will be the one to lead Bran.

I thought Osha looked familiar. She's the woman in Harry Potter with the different colored hair.

We get it GoT, Wildling Woman will use their femine...er...wiles to get dudes to drop their guard. Although, they might have just done it as it was the only way they could get the chick that plays Osha to do full frontal before she goes off with the Stark lads, 'cause if they did it then it'd be creepy. Don't mind this change, honestly, as I think the actress that plays Osha makes TV Osha a better character than her book counterpart. I think they still might have to introduce Meera later on though, cause Bran's gotta have a love interest.

This is what I mean about them taking liberties with the story. Who is going to take Rickon if she goes with Bran? They can't have Rickon go with them.

They can't? Now, we still don't quite know how Bran's story is going to turn out in the books, but I see ways that they could shift things around to write Rickon into it. As is typically the case with these things, there are a lot of possible ways to do it.

Wasn't really crazy about this weeks episode. Danny's character is coming off as a bit too entitled and childish. Seems like a lot more so than in the books to me. I can't tell how much of it is intentional...some of the writing seems hackneyed, and the actress seems like she's having a hard time with some of the character's petulant-sounding speeches. The bit where she was demanding ships from that spice merchant was cringe-worthy. At least Xaro is well-realized.

The scene where the Lannisters & Co. get attacked in the streets was a bit confusing. We had trouble telling who was who. The woman getting ripped apart came off kind of comical, like a B-level zombie movie. But the Hound was badass. I always thought his scenes with Sansa were some of the most interesting parts of the books.

I like to pretend that Jaqen is being played by Brendan Frasier. It makes every scene with him like 2x as fun.

If Rickon goes with Bran, then that has ripple effects. For example the whole thing with Davos at Whiteharbor will have to be rewriten. I thought they (Jojen and Meera) were kind of integral to Bran's story. Particularly Jojen. It's just annoying, I really don't see any reason behind all the changes they are making.

I've not seen this week's episode, we're a day behind because we can't see it before America for some reason, and we're five hours ahead.

That's true, the Whiteharbor bit will have to be revised. Stacked up against the other revisions they've made though, I don't anticipate that being a problem. Like I said, there are myriad ways to rewrite that section, and I think many of them could accomplish things just as well.

Personally, I don't feel like Jojen and Meera were integral to Bran's story. I felt like their background in the books was rather nebulous compared to most other characters. To me, they're more like plot devices, characters that are introduced with the sole purpose of ferrying Bran north and imparting lore onto him. If they figured out a way to transfer that duty onto Osha, then I'm all for it.

See, I was fine with the encyclopedia of characters in the books, where names are easy to reread and commit to memory, but it's already getting a bit crowded in the TV show. They'd do well to condense where possible.

I see what you mean, but I think this could all end up being somewhat short sighted on the side of the production team. Especially as they don't know what's happening in the last two books yet.

Yeah, I'm all for a smaller cast sometimes. It takes me a while to learn everyone's names and then try and keep all the storylines straight. I've had to look up characters online more than once just to make sure I had all the details right.

I really liked last nights episode though. The stories seemed to move along some, there was a little more action too.

It certainly could. But they've had GRRM there the whole time, so I suspect he could speak up if he felt like something wouldn't do things justice, or would conflict with where he wanted things to go from here.

I shall let you know my verdict on the latest episode in about two hours when it's aired here.

I like Jojen and Meera. I mean, it's not like they were superfluous characters like Dany's bloodrider which they killed off for no apparent reason.

Along the same thought, I wonder how much his consulting services on the show are influencing his plans for the final two books, if at all.

Regarding last night's episode, the biggest surprise for me was the way that Dany's story unfolded. It seems like they're setting up her story arc to skip all of the faffing about in Merreen (sp?), and just have her acquire her Unsullied army (you'll remember them from the earlier when they were outside the city gates) and begin to grow her power/dragons in Qarth.

I think the intent was to make her sound like her brother with regards to her desire for the Iron Throne. And they accomplished that IMO. I haven't read the books, but from the bits I've picked up she's going to change her goals at some point. I think this was a quick and easy way to set up the "before" state for the TV audience who wont have the luxury of reading several chapters of character development.

I'm fine with them trying to stress that she wants the Iron Throne. A little less so with them making her sound like a spoiled 6 year old out of the blue. Her character should have been through enough now to know that things don't come so easy, IMHO.

They can't do that though, other things have unfolded. I've had a feeling for a while that Dany wouldn't actually ever claim Westeros. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Aegon does, though. I think perhaps that's the point of all the 'faffing'.

It was an awesome scene. When the warlock guy's copies slit the other 13's throats. So much for them just being parlor tricks and illusions. Though, I'm pretty sure it was Ducksauce who told her they were parlor tricks. Must have been his attempt to make him seem less of a threat than he actually was.

S'all new. In the books, I don't recall Xaro doing much more than harping on Dany to marry him, and occasionally crying when she says no. None of this Qing of Qarth jazz.

Though admittedly, the Qarth part of the novels passed me by in a bit of a haze. I think I sort of sped-read her parts, so all stuff about illusions and magic seemed like a muddled mess to me.

I'm starting to think they should rename the series "loosely based upon Game of Thrones".

Seriously, this. That last episode was made up of about eighty percent new or different material. Granted the stuff with Dany involves a bit more intrigue than the books, but most of the changes really don't help the story much and will cause problems later on down the line.
