A little over a minute into this trailer and I had a full on nerd *****. I was jumping up and down in my seat in excitement.

My only complaint, so far, is Captain America's costume. The cowl still just looks ... weird. And this is in the face of Hawkeye's complete costume change, which in turn the comics have changed him to wear. I don't know, but Steve's Cap outfit just looked better in his movie. Obviously it's a wait and see kind of deal, and it certainly won't detract me from enjoying the movie. But yeah, it's the one thing that jumps up at me when I see it.

If you couldn't tell, this post is about The Avengers movie coming out April 26.

Here's the first trailer everyone has seen because it aired during the Super Bowl.

It's looking to me like Stark might be stealing the show a bit.

That may or may not be a bad thing. I haven't decided.

I am not into team ups generally. X-men is kind of the exception. But I am sure it will be entertaining if not anything great.

Better upload of the 2nd trailer for those who like to view trailers fullscreen:

Mr Aerodarkness apparently thinks 4:3 and 480p equals full HD.

Edit: By second trailer, I mean "trailer #2", not the second trailer posted in the OP, sheesh.

I'm pretty firmly on the side of it being good, because:
1. Captain America is useless (though I ship him and Ironman so hard).
2. Thor bugs me (primarily in how he speaks).
3. I know next to nothing about the other characters.

And, most importantly:

4. Robert Downey Jr. is amazing.

Third commercial, and this one I liked a lot if only for the "Well, we have a Hulk" line near the end.

However....

Everything I've seen says May 4th... What gives?

It's the first of the Summer Blockbusters? Dark Shadows, Battleship, & MIB III all come out in May too.

That's such a great lineup that I don't know how The Avengers will compete.

He said in a droll monotone.

Through the friend of a friend of a friend of a friend (and a few more steps) I got tickets to see an early showing. So I was surrounded by reviewers and hundreds of comic geeks. It was such a great movie, and I wish I could discuss what I saw, but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I will be seeing it again Friday at the official release, because it was just that good.

What I will say is that, yes, Tony Stark/Ironman is kind of the central character of the movie, but just barely because the big names are up there with him. What I will say though, is that The Hulk is the goddamn star of the movie for some scenes near the end. They were, by far, the most awesome scenes in the entire hour and a half. The crowds cheered and laughed throughout the entire movie. If you're not going to go see it, you're an idiot. The only thing I disliked was what I mentioned when discussion of this movie first started: Captain America's cowl. It just doesn't work for me. But it's such a minor complaint, and is just barely even there that it doesn't take away anything from the movie or him as a character. He was amazing, Thor was amazing, Ironman was amazing, even Hawkeye and Black Widow were amazing, though let's be honest they just can't stand up to those characters. But yeah, Hulk wins movie MVP.

If you're a fan of Captain America, you will enjoy him in this movie. If you're a fan of Ironman, you'll enjoy him in this movie. Fan of Thor? Will enjoy him in this movie. Hawkeye and Black Widow? You'll be a little disappointed, but not enough to not enjoy this movie. Hate the Hulk? Not anymore.

Go. Freakin'. See. It.

For Comic Geek Eyes Only: Brubaker Speech works so much better in movies than it does in comic books.

Oh, and obligatory avatar change to reflect the awesomeness of The Hulk. Also to note his book will be the next "big series" I'll be reading because of his role in this movie.
