I'm kinda surprised that this wasn't on the front page, so I'm creating a new one. I'm late to the party for the season finale, but I just finished it.

AND OMFG.

I can't believe everything that happened. I can only make sense of them killing off so many characters because they now have a way to continue to let them appear on the show. I'm not thrilled about Russell Edgington being the bad guy again, but I'm suspecting they might make him an ally of Bill and Eric, since they are all now set against the authority.

I hate that they killed of Jesus. I really loved him as a character, especially with Lafayette. I don't really understand why they'd kill off him AND Tara, since they are the vast majority of Lafayette's interactions.

And I'm really hoping that they somehow make Tara a vampire instead. She really grew on me this season. I know it's probably a long shot though...

Anyone else have thoughts on the last episode, or predictions for the next?

All I know is that the last few episodes rescued the season for me. I read the books first, and book 4 is my favourite. Eric has amnesia for a lot longer time, and his and Sookie's romance takes longer to bloom in the book. So the TV season 4 annoyed me by compressing Eric's amnesia into the middle few episodes, and tipping them into bed so fast. However, Charlaine Harris weakest point as a writer is writing suspenseful action blood and gore sequences. Short ones she's ok with, but long climactic ones... not so good.

This is thrown into highlight if you've ever read the first 9 books of the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton, who does horror-action extremely well when she's doing it.

So I really loved Alan Ball's rewriting of the whole witch's storyline and the eventual confrontation with the vampires. And I loved all the action and drama of the last episode. TV Tara has been a much stronger presence than book Tara, so it's such a shock to lose her... but that sort of impact is a good thing. I really want to see how Lafayette picks himself up next season, or doesn't. I'm also waiting with bated breath to see if Pam makes an unrepairable break with Eric over Sookie. That would tie me in knots, because I love TV Pam so much.

I ADORE Pam. <3

Also, I couldn't even get two chapters into the books. I thought the writing style was awful and, worse, it was written in first person. I don't even LIKE Sookie...

I'm just so f-ing sad that they killed off Jesus. His "just keep breathing" line was perfectly poignant though. And the whole "you're a medium" thing made me tear up.

I know that the general trend with HBO shows is to take a cast of characters and then see just how much sh*t they can put them through before they hit breaking point *cough* Six Feet Under *cough*. But this finale just seemed excessive with that.

One thing I hated about this season, especially, was how quickly and bluntly they just dropped plot lines. Jason not becoming Were and crystal never reappearing. Tara's lesbian romance. Faeries in general. Etc.

It was definitely the weakest season, in general, but I think it had the most emotional ending. Season 3's ending was pretty intense too, though.

So, I just watched it. Mostly so I could read your ******* spoilers.

TARA OMFG NO!!! That pisses me right off. But idigg might be on to something. Both Bill and Eric will hear Sookie's fugly wailing and undoubtedly come to her aid. Possibly bringing her back by making her drink their blood? Or perhaps that will just cure her?? Not sure on how all that works in Harris's world.

Jesus dying pissed me off almost as much, but I wasn't as attached to him. Mostly, I just loved seeing Lafayette so happy. Lafayette and Pam are my most favoritest characters.

Honestly, had they killed Sookie off instead of Tara I'd've been happy.

So, what happened to Sam? I assumed that the wolf who came up on him was Debbie, but then she showed up at Sookie's with no blood on her, and is now dead (yea!!! I hated her abnormally large shoulders).

If Sookie doesn't give Alcide a chance, she's a moron. Oh, wait...

Not excited to see Russell again.

I'm thinking that the wolf was just someone from the pack who came to avenge their packmaster. Sam is, for the first time, not seriously irritating me, so I hope his relationship works out. I'm betting the little girl is going to end up a werewolf though.

And I love Alcide. Smiley: inlove

Eric was actually super irritating this season. I like him when he was a cold *******. The love-struck puppy thing was disgusting.

And I seriously adore Pam. If she had died, I would have been PISSED OFF.

Billith.
