5 stars for action entertainment.

Little girl raised and homeschooled alone by her father in an Arctic wilderness, trained daily by him to hone assassin's skills. She has inherited a deadly secret and a deadly feud. At 14 she feels ready and eager to take on the mission that will avenge and safeguard her little family. Saoirse Ronan plays Hanna, a beautiful, deadly girl about to be sprung on an unsuspecting world...and have the whole wide amazing world sprung on her. She doesn't take names and kick asses, she just kills targets.

This is an action drama and fish-out-water film with fantastic acting from the wide cast. Everything about the film is beautifully crafted. But Saoirse Ronan is the riveting centre. She totally convinced me of Hanna's wild strength, combat training, intelligence, idiosyncratic education, un-socialised personality, cluelessness and wonder at the beauties of the world.

I saw this one back when it was in theaters. My friends were not huge fans, but I enjoyed it. I'd put it at a B+ probably. I actually can't remember what my complaints were at the time, now that it's been 3 months since I saw it. I'd say it's worth a watch though.

It's not incredible art. It doesn't have any message. It's just a perfect action flick. I'd compare it to Wanted. Nothing more and nothing less than a great action flick. I love Mr and Mrs Smith for being sexy and funny and action-y too. Again, not great art, yet still one of my favourite movies. Iron Man, the first X-men, Hot Fuzz. They make me feel lit up inside, happy or thrilled.

Haven't heard of it, so it must not be out here yet. Looks interesting.

Checked out the trailer. While it appears entertaining, it definitely looked like a B-movie (maybe it's the hair... oh god, the hair). Of course, that never stopped me from watching Ed Wood movies, so I'll add it to Netflix since I think I'll still enjoy it.

I was fortunate enough not see a trailer before-hand. I saw a trailer later, and it gave away pretty much the most important scene of the movie. I had read a tiny review that compared it to a cross between The Professional, and Run, Lola, Run, which are also two of my favourite movies. This made me eager to see Hanna. In the end I could kind of see where the comparison was made, but I didn't think Hanna was really all that like either movie. Nor did I think Hanna was as arty as Run Lola Run or as poignant and quirky as The Professional. However I was not disappointed by Hanna at all, even though my expectations going in were very high.

I don't know about B movie, but I can definitely assure you Hanna isn't a kids' movie, even though it's about a 14 year old. Kids wouldn't get all the nuances. I think they'd get bored in places. It's more gritty than most Hollywood stuff.
