I was told that they originally had not planned on more than one season, which could be why some things felt rushed. Aside from the last 5 minutes, I really liked the end of the season, and the show overall.

Ok, so the "current" Team Avatar is:

Korra = The Aang and The Katara
Mako = The Zuko
Bolin = The Toph
Lin Bei Fong = The Other Toph
Tenzin (and brats) = The Other Aang(s)

Would Asami be The Soka or The Suki, or both? She really didn't display much humor in the show so I'm going with The Suki, and adding The Soka to Bolin

It feels more like it was planned for more than one season, but then last episode came around and either they were told that they weren't renewed for a second season, or it went from planned 20ish episodes like the first series and suddenly cut down to 12.

bolin feels like a combination of sokka and toph, imo.

Am I the only one that thinks the way Asami is drawn doesn't seem to fit the Avatar series in general? She just seems to stand out. Like a character drawn for another series super imposed onto this one.

Edit:
I would agree that Bolin fills the Sokka role pretty well. Leaving Asami the Suki role. Which means... Bolin + Asami, after Mako and Korra hook up.

Edit2:
Ok, reading through some ship topics, I found this picture dealing with the origins of Lin.

It's a pretty decent explanation.

It's because of the makeup, IIRC she's the only main character in the new series that actually wears makeup more than once (yes I am counting Korra's attempt to use Asami's powder puff).

Apologies if I missed this in a spoiler, but after finally finishing it, we went back and watched the episode of the Last Airbender with the Guru because we seemed to recall it possibly relating..

Light chakra. In the middle of the forehead. Blocked by illusion. Huh.

So a year goes by... Book one came out on DVD like Last week. I bought it and was finally able to see this next chapter of this world. I did enjoy it. I think they did a great job, the animation was awesome, and I assume when it aired last year many fans of the 1st series watched it (I knew this toon was out, just kind of forgot about it until I saw the DVD last week). I know both my brothers, when younger, enjoyed the 1st series and I assume they have liked book one (not asked, making sure they have watched it all).

So yea... Necropost...
Season 2.

Way too much shipping. The first series was a bit heavy on it for my liking, but a love quadrangle really?

What I like most about the first series was world building, and I hope to see more of that in the second season of Korra.

The second definitely suffered from being a miniseries, but I'm not convinced some of the fault of that shouldn't lie on the fans. Naturally, we shouldn't expect the world to be so carefully and smoothly fleshed out in 12 episodes as it was in 36. Particularly since this one is, in ways, far more political.

I didn't actually mind the shipping part. I think it played an important part - looking into what it was like for an Avatar to just live their life. I mean, Aang was so incredibly removed from the world. First as the avatar, second by being a boy out of time, and third by being hunted and always on the move.

I like that they're not taking the same route, and are exploring the idea of being so apart from everyone but, at the same time, a teenage girl.

It's also being handled really, really well. Take Bolin, for instance, who could have so easily been turned into the Nice Guyâ„¢, but instead actually ends up as the appropriate role model for how you should act as a friend in that situation. I was impressed.

Granted, I don't want the whole series to be them switching partners nonstop. But I don't mind what we've seen so far.

[EDIT]

There are already so many jokes about his name. The "Wan" and only Avatar. The "Wan" who started it all. "Wan" of a kind. Etc.

Yes. Yes it will.

If there isn't already fanfiction/art of Korra and Tenzin, Lin, Amon, and Tarrlok (and every combination of those), I'd be shocked.

It's probably hard to draw a Lez 69 when the animal is 5x times Korra's size and isn't an anthromorph.
