Nagini is female. The snake in the 1st book was male...

Nagini is also a viper. The snake in the first book was a constrictor, which has neither teeth nor venom.

Well they have teeth, but not fangs (and the books make it clear that Nagini has two long fangs that can inject venom). Boa Constrictor teeth would leave shallow wounds, at best, and are really only used to hold onto prey while they, y'know, constrict it.

But, to be fair, that section grinds the flow of the book to a halt.

This. It's a film version. You kinda have to accept that everything not required to tell the story is going to potentially get cut. And Bombadil has nothing at all to do with the story. Deliberately.

Quote:
Tolkein admitted that he only included Bombadil because his kids loved him, but wished he had omitted him, because he was too poorly inserted into the story.

He also said that he left the character in because somewhere along the way he realized that every story and every world needed something out of place and unexplained. He'd spent so much time perfectly explaining every single thing and tying it all into a nice little bow, but real worlds aren't like that. So Bombadil stayed in the original books.

But yeah. No point in leaving him in the film. That whole section can be cut and not affect the story one bit.

Great movie, in my opinion. It's been so long since I read the books that I didn't notice the deviations, but I found the flashback scene where Harry sees Severus' memories to be one of the best in the history of those movies.

The three protagonists have always bugged me. Harry's whining, Hermione's forced excitement and Ron's awkwardness was cute when they were 10 years old, or how old they were in the first, but to carry it on through seven films is just horrible.

And I don't like the makeovers they all got in the third or fourth movie. Hermione's hair turns normal, Ron gets buffed and Harry's hair stop being messy (which it never really was). And then someone outfitted them with designer jeans instead of capes. Smiley: facepalm

Someone went further, but they did bring back the cape.
