You're funny!

... oh, you were serious? No idea. Apparently at least 100 manuscript pages were moved from ADWD and put in the next book. So far there's only been three confirmed POVs:
Arianne Martell
Sansa Stark
Aeron 'Damphair' Greyjoy

There also may be a POV chapter for Arya Stark, but that was from GRRM's livejournal in June of 2010, so it's possible it was moved back into ADWD. And I think it's been confirmed that Rickon and Osha make a reappearance, as well as Mago, a Dothraki from the first book (who was actually killed in the TV series, despite the producers being told that he'll be back).

Since the last book took 6 years, and Martin is busy with his other writing and the TV series, it'll likely be a couple of years at least. In the meantime there are several novellas (including the ones I mentioned in previous posts) being developed, as well as a potential companion volume.

All of this might whet our tastes, but will likely also slow writing for the new book Smiley: mad

I was kidding, I was kidding :D

Thanks for that info though!

I doubt it's going to take six years again, or I hope anyway. All the attention with the series (which I believe was quite successful?) might push him along. Or distract him, that's a possibility too.

I've decided to take my time with the book. I figure it'll be another five years before Winds comes out so I'm not going to rush through this one. I remember when I finished Feast and realized how long I'd have to wait for Dance, and got fairly annoyed. Anyway, since I'm only about four hundred pages in, I've been avoiding this thread like the plague. I just popped in to mention that so far I'm enjoying it, though I think he could have picked up the pace a bit. Half the book so far is people just traveling from one place to another.

Spoiler alert: That's what most of the second half is as well.

(And a bit of dragons owning people)

My thoughts on the future/present

-Jon Snow is probably dead. Sad to say, but I can't see him surviving several knife wounds from his friends. And honestly... this sounds rough, but he deserved it. He was skirting his vows for a while with the wildlings, and while his plan to kill Ramsay made me cheer, his death was fully justified by his oath.
-In all likelihood, Melisandre will save his life, because honestly Jon's just too awesome to kill off. Right? RIGHT!?!?

I agree you that Jon is dead, and will be rezzed by Melsiandre. One thing I like about it is that he will then be freed from his vows...

That's just my little bit of speculation,

I've read no spoilers yet, and tomorrow I'll finish the Audio Book version of it...

It better end well...not so happy with what has taken place in the last 3 Chapters. I've only stayed with the series because of Jon and Bran Smiley: glare

Ugh.
I guess in 10 years I'll see if I'm still mad at how it ended.

-Words are just Wind was said/used way to many times in this book for my liking. I kept waiting for it to have some deep meaning...instead it turns out to be Wind speaking to Danny..
-Not happy with what happen to Jon. I knew he was going to die...

My hopes to things to happen:
-I can't recall the name of the Knight, but he was in the last book (or the one before it) who had a priest of R'hllor with him. He pretty much was though to not be kill-able, the priest did his w/e to bring him back. All I can hope for is this happens to Jon via Melisandre. Or he raises up like his Uncle/Step Mother/Brienne (I don't know the difference between the White Ones and The Others, but w/e one lets them keep their minds..these people are turning into them) and pwns people.
-Brann does learn to fly, by taking over one of the Dragons (or a Dragon if more eggs are found on Dragonstone [I think is the place] via mind powers.
-GRRM finishes the story within 5 years >.>'

Hmmm...I just read through the whole book yesterday. Some spoiler thoughts...

Is it just me, or did I just see Melisandre's death flag go up? All that talk about how her reagents are starting to run a little low and how much riskier everything really IS for her to do.

I didn't see any confusion about Jon's real origins--His mom is the girl that Ned left the bag of silver for in that town Davos went to... Speaking of which, that explanation sounded like a death flag for Jon too in hindsight, since it is tying up the mystery of who his mom is.

Why do I get the feeling Theon and Bran are starting to learn how to communicate with each other through Bran's greenseeing?

Does Daenrys having her period mean what I think it means? >_>

Edit: Whoops...left off a closing tag.

Not having the book means I can't look at the words at the end. Who was it she saw riding up to her? Was it the one she married or one of the men who was part of his tribe? (Karl Drogo? was that the name?) If it was, then yea. It means what it means.

I don't have the book on hand at this second, but pretty sure it was one of the men in the tribe who were sent out to look for her. If it was actually Khal Drogo, I'm pretty sure she would have literally crapped out a brick.

Here are my thoughts upon the conclusion of the GoT book series, through current, after finishing ADWD. If you haven't read the series, or finished it, below will contain spoilers:

1- A Feast For Crows was my least favorite, as it was missing some of my favorite POV characters entirely. No Jon, Dany, or Tyrion makes for a dull GoT book.

2- God I hope Cersei gets it, it's about **** time.

3- Yay, Varys is back!

4- The Dothraki that shows up at the end was the dude that Dany made stop raping woman when they sacked a town in book 1, yes? And the same dude who Drogo killed in 1 v 1 combat in the show that wounded him, leading to Drogo's death, yes? That doesn't exactly bode well for Dany...

5- Barristan the Bold is awesomesauce. Barristan Selmy leading the Unsullied in battle against anything will approach Allakhazam levels of awesome. Especially with Dragon's in tow.

6- The "Dragontamer" chapter of ADWD was a hoot. Poor little Frog...

7- Where's Rickon & the Wildling Woman?

8- I hated Theon-Reek-Theon, but now I like him again. Same with his uncle with the burned arm.

9- Jon's not dead, yet. But maybe he will "die", briefly, which would coincidentally free him from his vows & let him bring it against The **** of Bolton holding Winterfell.

10- No Sam in ADWD. Boo.

11- I still hate Sansa, but I like her more under her new name.

12- When the **** will Arya become queen of the wolves & reunite with Nymeria? We've all known this would happen since book one. Get on with it!

7- Where's Rickon & the Wildling Woman?

4- I believe it was Drogo's right-hand man, the one who basically said "Screw you, you're worthless once the blood of my blood dies." He does die in the TV series, but not in the books (it's a different guy who Drogo kills).
7- Skagos. Theon's squire (I forget his name) throws a knife at it. That's also where Davos is headed.
