About a Hussein-like dictator who gets secretly replaced by a lookalike goat herder and now must find new meaning in a life in New York City, the film is inspired by "Zabibah and the King," a book about a benevolent dictator that was revealed to be written by Hussein himself

The book itself is about a benevolent, beloved king who falls in love with a beautiful, victimized girl who was raped by her cruel husband. Believe it or not, it's a subtle allegory for Iraq and the United States -- the king (based, obviously, on Saddam) is the peaceful Iraq, while the cruel, rapist husband is the Gulf War-waging United States.

The dictator will be played by Sacha Baron Cohen, which is decidedly less awesome, but it's an interesting project anyway. I would have preferred it as a more serious movie.

I find the title of this thread to be deeply misleading.
#5REDACTED, Posted: Jun 09 2011 at 5:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Metaphorical rape, deposed dictators, war crimes, anti-US sentiment perverted and misconstrued, a whacky fish out of water plot...

Just an FYI, you could have said "lumpen" instead and not looked like a hipster child who just discovered Marx, but doesn't know much on the topic.

On second thought, you'd have still looked like a hipster, but would have at least looked "a little" more informed.

#7REDACTED, Posted: Jun 09 2011 at 6:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'll remember for the next time I totally seriously claim that someone's taste in movies puts them in a completely different social class than me.

Anyone else picturing Borat doing some chick while flashing a double thumbs-up and going "All Right!"

... just curious.

Might be good, he's a good actor, but... eh...

Borat had some funny parts, but overall it's a pretty ****** movie. I never saw the second movie he did, as it looked worse than Borat.

I'm just not into his sense of humor, which seems predicated on the idea that male nudity is VERY, VERY FUNNY.
