Ok i figured this series needed its own thread becuase It seems to be one of the better series this season. After watching episode 5, I must say, the squick factor maxed for me.

For a few episodes I figure it was going to become your normal Shonen series, but dead lord when that guy had his eye pulled out while he was awake I was shocked.. I probably won't be getting the unedited DVDs becuase of that one scene.

This series is kind of all over there, Action Mystery suspense Horror. Like the animation, and the soudtrack is really good with good heavy guitar riffs and catchy opening.

Whats your opinion so far.

Personally, I've been enjoying this show, but it's not a style I'd like to see more of in new shows. As mentioned, it's definitely much more graphic than most other anime shows out there. Apart from the gore, I find the plot to be a good mix of action and mystery so far. I found the animation to be very clean and the heavy metal riffs used for background music are very fitting of the show. As how it compares to this season, I'd recommend it as a show to watch this season (though it's not for everyone). Also, also- Shiro is ******* awesome.

While the gory seasons are not often, you do get a taste of it in the first 5 minutes of the first episode.

Speaking of Shiro...don't read TVTropes on Deadman Wonderland if you value not seeing MASSIVE spoilers.

I think it's mildly amusing that every anime season, we have a thread mentioning about what each of the different shows are about. Instead, we could simply just copy some short summaries from wikipedia (since most shows are based on manga and tend to be very faithful to original works) then have a brief discussion in what looks interesting rather than what seems to feel like we're "discovering" something new.

Was just a random thought I had.

Sounds good, and I prefer watching ongoing series.
Now I'll just need to find a good subber to download it from.

Episode 1 was quite entertaining. It took me a few minutes to stop thinking about FMA every time the main character spoke though.

CR has it. I still haven't started the series as I've been watching other stuff, but it's on my list to start this week.

Well, after 5 episodes it's about as cliche as it gets but it's bloody and pretty well done.

Speaking of massive spoilers, don't read the comments on the episodes of it over on CR either.

Also, the more I hear it, the more I'm loving the opening song.

I kept wondering about posting in here, because it seems like quite a few people are enjoying the show, and I didn't want to mess that up. Then I realized I was inflating the force a few comments would have.

I read the Deadman Wonderland manga up to about the late thirties (catching up to what was then current). I really enjoyed the premise, but I felt the series built little upon it. It was a very intriguing world the author had set up, and yet the plot and main character aren't terribly original by comparison.
