I'm pretty impressed. I was still on the fence about Matt Smith before(I like Tennant), but I really enjoyed the opening episodes. I'm very curious about the rest of the season after being thrown off by the kid apparently being a timelord and regenerating at the end of the second episode. And also confused because it seems to be Amy's child and yet seems to be half timelord. It's looking like it'll be a good season.

My guess is that Rory was unable to become full human again even with the rebirth of the Universe so he isn't the father. I believe that Amy secretly wished to have the Doctor's child and her ability to manipulate reality at the end of last season fulfilled that wish.

It's most likely not true, but that's how I wrote it in my fan-fic.

I'm pretty unimpressed with the new season so far. The premier set an epic story full of mystery and wonder and excitement but I'm having a hard time bringing myself to really care about it.

A friend and I are actually discussing this right now.

I really don't know what is going on with the girl; Shaowstrike has an interesting idea, but I'm not going to make any specific predictions myself until we get further on in the series. I'm definitely interested to see what happens. Can I just mention for a second how goddamn tragic River is? She breaks my heart.

I really want to know how they get themselves out of killing the Doctor without ******** up the previous storylines.

Also a question I had. 1) The Doctor can't die in such a lame (or uneventful) way. 2) It was his current form that died, implying that he will not change forms again before dying, making Matt Smith the last Doctor. I don't think they'd write themselves into that hole for nothing, so I'm sure they have a way out of it.

I think the Silence did something to Amy to make the half-timelord girl. Apparently they've been behind a lot of the things (everything?) that have happened with the new Doctor, and they seem to be very interested in the girl. I really believe that Amy and the Doctor never had sex. I don't think the Silence could make the Doctor do something he wouldn't want to, even if they can make him forget them. And even that ability seemed to wear off by the end of the second episode.

BTW, I think the Silence are truly creepy creatures. Daleks are evil and crazy, but they don't have that... presence, that the Silence do. Maybe it's because of they are modeled after the classic Grey, and that image of aliens has haunted my childhood nightmares ever since I used to watch X-files as a little kid.

I'm still trying to figure out if the entire race wears business suits out of fashion sense, or if their body actually looks like that.

I think only one of them was wearing the suit. The one that Amy first saw, and keeps following them. If I remember right, the ones in the sewer under the warehouse that River saw were kind of huddled and not wearing suits. And I don't remember seeing the full bodies of any of the ones on the ceiling in the orphanage, except the single one that comes down to confront her again.

Yeah, they all wear suits. They showed it a few times, as Shaowstrike demonstrated. Honestly, these guys are second on my list of creepy Doctor Who baddies. The Weeping Angels have them beat by a fraction.

I think the Silence have the Angels beat. At least with the Angels you know they're there and can do something about them. With the Silence, even if you know that there is something there, they can do anything to you and you'd never know it.

Ah, so they do all wear suits.

A question to the European folk out there, is this season airing ahead of the US, or are they being aired nearly the same time?

Not European here, but according to the episode list on Wiki the current season is being shown on the same day in both countries.

Also the actress who played Sarah Jane Smith died on April 19th from cancer.

I've been thinking about it, and the suits are most likely a reference to the MiB. Especially that Neuralyzer-like effect they have.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw them too. I doubt the reference was intentional, but it might have been. The parallel is quite apparent in any case lol.

Im liking this season so far, Im happy they are going to places outside Europe/Britain and delving a bit into US history etc.

As for Amy being part timelord I think it was hinted at Its the effects of being around the Doctor/Tardis Least thats my take on it so far. Im upset they split this season in half kinda but hopefully it turns out well, I just going to hate the overarching plot wait (probobly how the Doctor dies)

I'm getting a feeling Australia's season of Dr Who is running one episode a week behind the US/Britain. Smiley: mad

I didn't like the third episode as much as the first two. I knew it was going to have very little to do with the storyline of the season, the doctor said so at the end of the second episode (something along the lines of "We could go find out who this girl is, or we could do anything we want."). But I still don't like completely straying off the path like that. And the story wasn't even all that interesting. Probably wouldn't have been such a let down if it had been a bit more interesting. Or if Lily Cole had been nude.

Yeah, it was pretty lackluster. Also, we need to keep tabs on how many times Rory dies. I'm pretty sure this is at least the third.
