All Star Superman...Follow

...Is the best animated DC related feature ever. It's based on the graphic novel by Grant Morrison & Frank Quietly which was even greater. The animated feature was a great adaptation, albeit slightly dumbed down from the comic. The animation was top notch (The characters are all based on Quietley's designs), the voice acting was stellar, & the story was epic.

I thought Batman: The Red Hood & Mask of the Phantasm had set the bar, but All Star Superman raised it.

Is it the one in which Superman punches Space-Time so hard it breaks?

Nope, it's the one where Lex Luther gets Superman to go real close to the sun in an effort to save some scientists causing his powers to get so supercharged that he gets radiation poisoning. He then goes about settling his affairs before he dies.

Wait, what? There's a storyline (DC 1,000,000) where Superman EASILY LIVES INSIDE THE SUN FOR LIKE FIFTEEN THOUSAND YEARS AND COMES OUT AS GOD but this storyline he basically gets cancer for flying too close?

That being said, I've yet to be disappointed by anything DC's animation department releases. Partially due to my lack of following of their comics (Though, like above, I know a thing or two) so I don't get nearly as ticked off at story inconsistencies like I do for Marvel movies and/or animation. So I'll check this out when I get the chance either way.

The "All Star" line of DC comics was essentially DC's version of Marvel's "Ultimate" line. The All Star Batman line was written by Frank Miller with art by Jim Lee (Funny enough, considering Miller wrote arguebaly the best batman story ever with The Dark Knight Returns, the writing was actually pretty bad.)

So it doesn't stick to cannon.
