Ok I've learned a few things;
A) I still suck at making amvs
B) Adobe Premiere hates .mkv files
C) .mkv files don't like to be decoded, like at all. (and remember 1 25 min show takes about an hour and a half to decode)
D) Adobe isn't like riding a bike, I barely retained anything.

So I gave up 45 seconds into the song since a ton of the clips I was using were borked (you'll see if you watch the terrible youtube link), and since I'm a glutton for punishment here's a link to what i created. It does cut off at 45 seconds or so sorry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckugq1vIwr8

Before you laugh hard at my failure, There is no effects in this it was a rough edit. I was trying to line all the clips up (aka the black space in the video had corrupted clips).

But yeah, I gave up, maybe if I could of found the way around the MKV issue i would have completed this atrocity but meh. Anyway have fun making fun of me. :)

That's a shame, considering its actually not a bad show. Great animation and voice acting, and doesn't treat its audience like retards.

I kept going back and forth on whether this show was just plain awful or so bad it's good, but it turns out it's both. Episode 11 is some of the stupidest bullsh*t I've ever seen in an anime, but then whales with school shirts start coming out of the megalo and suddenly "dammit I like this show again."

I really hate Vataro for making me watching this. He also forced me to watch Negima.

It seems a lot of people liked this. But I really respect Allegory as a poster, and if he didn't like it, I am not so inclined to give it a try.

I am very slowly getting back into anime, and my tastes don't seem to cross over with a lot of people's tastes here.

I'm having a really hard time working out If my tastes fall into the "Boy's", "Girl's", "Men's" or "Women's" categories of anime. I like lots of action and magic. But I also want plot or character development. Silliness drives me up the wall. A cast entirely populated by immature characters drives me up the wall. I like romance, but harem anime where sexual tension is NEVER EVER resolved between any of the characters drive me up the wall. I can live without sex, but I like sex. But then I've had a hard time finding "adult" material that doesn't go into extreme kinky, horror or rape stuff. And that stuff can be ever so tiresome because it often devolves into shallow pornography instead of advancing a plot or character development.

I guess I'm just not looking often enough to find things to please me.

I think you should still give this one a try. It has action and magic, as well as character development (the plot itself is fairly ridiculous, but that's ok). There is some romantic tension as well, but it works pretty well.

And honestly, Allegory doesn't like Bioware games, so you have to take his opinion with a grain of salt.

If you want some "adult" stuff, I might recommend Yosuga no Sora. It is based on an H game, but I thought they did a pretty good job handling it (they cover a few different paths). It also doesn't go into any crazy fetishes or anything, and the sex is never the primary focus; it serves primarily to forward plot and character development.

As for deciding what "category" your tastes fall into, I think it's silly to try to categorize yourself. My tastes vary so widely that it would be impossible for me, but I think it also might have the unintended effect of limiting what you watch, and you might miss out on something good. I just take each series individually and decide on its own merits whether or not it's worth a try.

I'm not so firm in the belief that no one can enjoy it, because obviously people do. It's just that it can only be enjoyed as anime bullshiz. It can only be enjoyed as "so bad it's good." If it isn't working for you from that angle--which it largely didn't for me--then it won't work for you at all.

I'd rather have a show like Princess Tutu or Revolutionary Girl Utena that can be appreciated both from a 100% anime bullshiz view point and as a serious story with actual depth. If you don't find one angle interesting, then it offers you another.

Salt has long been a very valuable commodity, and so I appreciate the compliment.

I'm not sure what you've seen before so I'll take a few pot shots.

--Escaflowne. A good amount of action and magic. The fights are well designed in that you feel the weight and sluggishness of what giant mecha combat would be like. Plenty of romance, as the series is somewhat of a shounen/shoujo hybrid, and definitely nothing like a harem. The plot was written to be a 52 episode long series, but due to budget constraints had to be reduced down to 39 episodes, which gives the series a compact and epic feel to it. One of my favorite shows.

--Revolutionary Girl Utena. Theres about one fight every other episode, though the fights are more allegories of personal struggles. The first Juri fight I found to be amazing. There's romance and sex, but definitely not pornography. Definitely strong character growth. The series can be highly repetitive though, as each mini arc follows a very standard format. There's also a lot of reusing certain sequences.

I just finished watching this a couple of weeks ago, and it is standard 26 episodes, not 39. But I definitely agree with your assessment. (Note: I did a little research just now and you just switched some numbers around. Wiki says that it was supposed to be 39 but got cut down to 26.)

I am almost finished with this one (4 episodes left), and it's interesting because it follows the magical girl format pretty regularly, but at the same time it doesn't FEEL like a magical girl series. You may not even notice it unless you are looking for it. It has excellent character development, which I am always a huge fan of. It often does the "we're talking about sex without actually talking about sex" thing (sometimes more subtly than others), but there is nothing shown that would take it above a PG-13 rating. I think it's worth checking out when you have time (it's one of the "classics"), but I wouldn't make it a huge priority either necessarily.

You're correct. I knew it was reduced and remembered the number 39, but I geuss I took a bad guess at whether that was a starting point or ending point.

Coincidentally, Utena IS 39 episodes. (Or maybe 37, but it's one of those.) Totally unrelated, but an interesting coincidence nonetheless.

Sadly, there was no sarcasm in either. Its obviously a show aimed at little girls, which makes it that much more horrifying to realize its actually a good show for anyone to watch.

Unbelievable.

That sums up the show pretty well, I think. With the boobs, weird humor, drama and violence this show provided, I might just have gotten over my anime hatred. I mean, this was awesome. One moment it's all serious and stuff and the next he's being beat to crap by a naked teen girl for being a pervert.

And Eu/Yuu was adorable. Smiley: inlove

Oh god, what's happening to me?!

Welcome to the Dark Side! I'm sure many of us can recommend great animes you might like, it might be a bit hit or miss til you find your preferred genre, but we can help. If you like action/comedy with a little bit of ecchi, as i recommended to a few fellow board members and they seem very pleased with it Asura Cryin'

Yeah.. I'm kinda scratching my head over that.

I enjoyed it simply for being random and silly. But it doesn't deserve more than a 6/10.

I guess that's why I liked it.

To be honest, I don't really know what it is I hated about anime. I think it was everything and nothing at the same time. You know, prejudice based on some bad experiences. Grew up watching a lot of Digimon and Pokémon and those shows make me groan now. They're way too hyper (flashy colors, super-power-mega-level-ultimate-form 9000+ etc.) and not funny enough to support it.

This series (is series plural and singular?) just seemed to have enough seriousness to not be completely ridiculous and the correct amount of humor to back up everything. For instance, the horse Megalon had me laughing out loud. I mean, fighting a horse in a coat and suddenly jellyfish join in? What the hell? Just thinking about it makes my brain sizzle.

Perhaps that's why I liked it. Complete sensory overload. Too much wtf and win in one. Or maybe being drunk and watching the show at 3-4 AM had something to do with it.

Anyway, I want more!

Yes it is.

As for the rest, you might be a little hard pressed to find something as mindblowing as Zombie. Hmm Steins gate might be this if it keeps up (minus the echhi) but its pretty crazy. It just started so I'm not sure yet. Otherwise Excel saga is pretty crazy. Deadleaves and Shinchan for the funny (Dubbed) and for WtF Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu. Heres a quick synopsis:

Quote:
Haré is a boy who lives in a jungle village with his young, slightly-alcoholic mother Weda. Life is good in the jungle, and Haré is a happy boy, until the day a monster eats him. He wakes up the next morning, uneaten and in his own bed. While he is wondering if it was all a dream, Weda announces that she has adopted a little girl named Guu. With her pink hair, shining eyes, and sweet smile, Guu charms Haré's mother — but when Weda's back is turned, Guu becomes a scowling dark presence that frightens Haré. Not only that, she is capable of swallowing anything she takes a fancy to — whole bananas, live birds, even people and landscapes — and Haré discovers that anything Guu swallows is still alive inside her, in a completely different world...

Haré's life turns into an endless parade of torments by Guu as he tries to keep her out of trouble, and find out what kind of creature she really is. This is all made rather difficult by the wide array of paranormal abilities she possesses, the bizarre supernatural events that happen around her, and her enjoyment in toying with Hare's neurosis.

Despite the apparent horror overtones, this is actually a rather wild and surreal comedy, kind of like the Cthulhu Mythos as written by Mel Brooks

BeanX gave some good suggestions for shows like Kore Wa Zombie rate me down Ka. Excel Saga in particular I think is fairly similar (though minus the harem setup), but I think it'd lack the seriousness you seemed to like in KWZDK. You might also like Pumpkin Scissors, more serious and less outrageous though.
