Did anyone give this a chance, or were you all waiting for the cam torrent? It starts off kind of dull, but when the military shows up, it gets pretty badass. OMFG that lone plane was pulling off some serious maneuvers!

Better acting than I expected. I cared enough for the characters to think about them, but not so much that I got attached to them.
Visuals were obviously a plus.
Action an virtually all levels ranging from good to "holy ****!"
If I can't remember a single bit of the soundtrack, it either wasn't there, or wasn't worthwhile.

I give it 8/10

It would be higher, but it takes awhile to get to the truly awesome part. However, trust me, the wait it fully worth it.

Also, Eagle of the 9th was one of the previews. It's one of the few non-horror books that I really liked. Looks promising. Thoughts?

I thought they would, but no.

Do we send two guys into space to load a virus into the mothership? (Good thing we were sitting on that unpatched 0 day vulnerability for Alien OS 3048X)

Yeah, this is Independence Day with better (newer) graphics, and a darker mood. The "twist" (if it could be called that) at the end is neither an Earth biological pathogen, nor a computer virus. It's sort of set up for a sequel, but they could also just leave it to your imagination with the one film, there's lots of possibilities provoked by the final scenes. I guess it's a bit like the end of Inception. The audience gets to choose the ending they like best.

This film is a simple suspense/horror/action/blockbuster. The graphics are BIG. There's a few creature designs that are reminiscent of hyped up versions of some of the creatures in The Matrix. Those are the LEAST of the creatures, which tend to be on the MASSIVE side. The main hero dude, Eric Balfour, has a big brooding charismatic presence. This is another simple adventure story with an extravaganza of action and graphics. If you enjoy that kind of thing, you'll probably love this one. I recommend seeing it in the cinema for the full effect. If you are only into more deep, cerebral stories, then give this a miss.

And yeah Doug, they really sucked my emotions in with "The Flight of The Stealth Bomber".

I had been looking forward to this one, until my girlfriend remarked that it looked like Independance Day (which I consider to be one of, if not the most awful and chronically overrated movies of all time). That left a sour taste in my mouth.

But it does sound promising from what you guys say. I hope the Independance Day comparisons are largely aesthetic, and not about the acting. I might just give it a chance.

Turk better not die though. Smiley: glare

Edited for grammar: why do I just randomly not type some words when I post from my phone?

The plot is already up on Wikipedia if you want to know what the movie is about. It's closer to the first half of War of the Worlds (Cruise version) than Independence Day.

Honestly, this is the worse sci-fi movie in the last decade. It's soo boring.
