Bieste. No comment.

What's up with Lea/Rachel being twiggy now. Was I just imagining that, or has she gotten disgustingly skinny?Overall a decent episode, no memorable music pieces for me.

Agreed, both about Lea and the episode/music.

CHARICE!

Having a Filipino girlfriend made this episode AMAZING. Sunshine is Charice, a Filipino idol super famous over there and who has gained increased popularity here since Oprah took her under her wing. Somehow I missed hearing about this before this season started...

Episode was pretty middle-of-the-road otherwise. Really enjoyed "Billionaire," enough that I might buy the single off Amazon when it goes up. Charice's song was pretty amazing at showcasing her AMAZING voice (she became famous at like... 8, for outsinging Whitney Houston), but I didn't know the song itself. Bieste is an interesting development, and new **** boy does have huge lips. Overall it set the pace - just wish Emma had been in the episode somehow. Ahhh well!

I honestly didn't think she was singing it. I was sad because I thought all of the Glee "kids" had such wonderful voices, and her performance made me think that wasn't her. Your post made me happy to know she was singing. Thank you.

Yeah, Lea looks like she lost a decent amount of weight. I don't think she looks unhealthy - yet. She didn't need to lose any weight though.

I loved the Telephone clip with Rachel and Sunshine in the bathroom, that was great. Granted I'm a huge Lady Gaga fan, so that probably has a lot to do with it lol.

Definitely not surprised to see the Sue and Will alliance fall apart so quickly.

Favorite Britney line: "Coach Biest didn't touch my boobs, but I kind of want to touch hers."

Also, glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks new cute quarterback boy is going to end up being Kurt's new boytoy...

Can't wait for next week's episode. As much as I don't like Britney Spears, her music is pretty catchy and they picked some good ones for the preview. I just hope Britney herself won't be in the episode.

So I missed the first half the episode, sue me, I came in at "Stronger." I liked Toxic, I hate the new Paramore song, so forget that.

What I really took away from the second half?

Rachel is a manipulative biatch.

I LOVE both of the songs in the preview for next week!

So excited, although it seems like a super goofy episode plot.*

* And it made me want grilled cheese.

Loved that it was centered around the character Britney (in glee), hated that it was mostly remakes of Britney videos.

Also, nitrous doesn't make you trip. It makes you giggle, hear "wha-wha-wha" sounds, & fall down.

I thought he was rather funny, but then again I have a demented sense of humor. :D

Overall I wasn't that impressed with this episode. I thought Toxic was great, but the rest of the songs were just meh. I agree that they should have done something different than just redoing the Britney videos, that was a dumb move.

I can only imagine they did that because the kids were having "dreams" about the songs, and the videos are what they know. I honestly hadn't seen enough of any of Brittany's videos to know they were exactly the same. Smiley: lol

I wonder if a simple "redo" of the videos was all Brittany's camp would allow?

It's always interesting to speculate on stuff like that, but I think in this case I think it's just what Ryan Murphy wanted to do. Of course, that is also just my speculation :P.

All I could think for most of the songs was "Holy Auto-tunage, Batman!" The song choices were excellent - the songs sung were FAIL, because they hardly sounded anything like the normal singers. I was hoping for some great songs, but instead I got robotic versions that didn't feel the mood at all. Mercedes is going to sing a riveting song during church? No, wait, instead it sounds like she turned on a boombox and just sat back. Finn is going to bust out some REM to show his feelings? Nope, just kidding. It sounds like he's alone in a sound room, recording his voice without any emotion, inflection, or interference. The auto-tuning took all the heart, emotion, and sentiment out of the songs.

the sole exception was the last song, which started off amazingly... and ended after ONE VERSE. I was so disappointed.

The subject matter itself was incredibly emotional, but the songs ruined it. And not because the singing was bad - but because it was TOO good. A total lack of emotion or change in the songs made it ruined. When people are upset of desperate, they don't sing better than ever - they get raw, crackly, and emotional. NONE of that came through.

BRB, going to listen to the original "What if God was One of Us" to really get into the music.

After watching the first 10 minutes I had missed, I concede that "Only the Good Die Young" was good... but I stand by my point of "HOLY AUTO-TUNAGE!" Puck is awesome, but I felt like he was needlessly autotuned. Sure, on the "Nice white dress and a party on your confirmation!" part I can understand auto-tuning... but the rest of the song is easy to sing and it's a complete shame that they felt the need to alter his voice for it. Give me some graininess, some... inflection! Something!

Sigh. The music of this episode was amazing, the plot was great and emotional, the lines were hilarious at points (Sue, Puck, Kurt describing God as an evil midget in a teapot), but the singing was so mechanically altered that I just couldn't love it as much as I wanted to :-(

I must be deaf or something, because I didn't notice the auto tuning nearly as much as you did Locke. I tend to only get bothered by it when it's really obvious, like in the Telephone song during this season's first episode.

I really loved this episode though. My dad passed away of a brain tumor when I was in high school, so definitely some easy relatability there. I'm also glad that they didn't treat the atheists like freaks or converted them by the end of the episode.

Also, Finn was pretty **** cute about the whole "I wanna touch Rachel's bewbs" thing. I thought that was pretty funny.

After watching the show again, I decided I really like it. However, it still feels a lot like their voices were altered. Too good, too on-key. I dunno, it's tough to explain - maybe I'm listening too closely and expecting the actual song, not their voices. Maybe their singing voices are completely different than their talking voices. Maybe I'm just drunk whenever I watch the episode. Who knows?

But it was a great song selection and good plot in this episode. Best of the new season, for sure.

Continuing my trend of starting to watch the episode a few minutes late, I missed the very beginning (Puck is in jail WHAT?). I really enjoyed it besides that though. Sam's song was really cute, or as Santana said "Freaking adorable." I liked Santana getting to sing again, although the dance moves... eh... Mike and Tina did a great dance number and it was really cute too. I wonder if he really does have an absolutely terrible voice, though, and some of her notes seemed really off. Kurt's song and dance were... creepy. I can't really describe it other than that. Maybe if I had seen what it was from I'd like it more, but as it was all I could think was "You ruined a tuxedo... maybe 2... for this? Really?"

As far as the episode went...

Is Sam gay? I really thought he was going to be Kurt's boyfriend... still kinda think that... but...
On the same vein, it makes me feel sorry for Quinn if Sam is gay, as she's getting jerked around.
Also, I'm starting to think that **** is deliberately portrayed as bad in Glee. Sorry if it's a duh moment, but both Artie and Finn had terrible first-time sexual experiences... or at least terrible feelings immediately after, Quinn got pregnant, Terri fakes being pregnant, etc etc. We really haven't had any good examples of "successful" sexual relationships in Glee. It's basically, if you have sex, bad things happen.

Also, I totally went "awwww :-(" with Brittany and the meatball at the end. My girlfriend went "Ew!" Apparently I find sticking your face in food cute and she finds it gross!

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to portray **** in high school as bad, at least for this show.

I really liked this episode though. I enjoyed most of the songs, enjoyed watching different relationships (both romantic and not) emerge, etc.

But dear god, I am so looking forward to next episode (why is it in 2 weeks? >_<).

Why is this? I mean, there are obviously risks for having high schoolers sexing each other up, but Glee is goofy to the point of being over-the-top quite often so the only argument for this I could think of ("Kids watch this show!") seems moot. The show itself has a lot of mature themes already. They've had pot, booze, bullying, teenage pregnancy, homophobia, getting high on laughing gas, **** Sex has been portrayed too, but the results always seem negative.

I wanted to address this from last week. While the other kids were sad about Kurt's dad, I don't think they were quite as emotional as Kurt, and when Kurt did "I want to hold your hand," his voice was raw, filled with emotion, and I just wanted to cry for him. He was amazing, and I don't think anyone gave him enough credit in this thread for that. So far this season, this song is my absolute favorite, not because I like the song, but because of the way he sang it and the sweet spin he put on it.

Ah, Rocky Horror. Unlike usual, I managed to watch the entire Glee episode without missing the first 5-10 minutes. Huzzah!

Music: Pretty good overall. I actually really enjoyed Mercedes' take on Frank. Sang the Sweet Transvestite song really well, despite cutting out the "Transexual" word. Time Warp was really awesome. John Stamos did a pretty good job on his song. While I liked Touch-a touch-a Touch-Me, I feel like Emma has the weakest voice. Dammit, Janet was good, but I felt the dance moves were a little too hectic.

RHPS: I found myself cringing every time they changed lines. Some really seemed... unnecessary. Touch-a changed some that seemed pretty tame, but even then it still pushed the limit a bit in how much they could show on TV, IMO. If I had never seen RHPS I think I would have hated this episode. I think Will explained it really well at the end - it is, after all, a cult hit. Lots of people won't like it. And while I understand editing it a bit for cable... eh, it just kinda took away that magic the original had. Still sang along with almost every song, though!

Characters: WILL IS A DOUCHE. That was the over-arching theme I took away from it. Even at the end, when he was "apologizing," he acted like a total jerk... "our feelings for each other..." GET OVER IT. He reminds me of a teenager himself. Sue's lines, as always, were pretty funny. Sam was a bit more hardcore in his mentality than that I had hoped for, and I was really hoping he would have had more screentime in the play. Kurt was a freaking awesome Riff Raff.

Overall? I enjoyed it. Not going to make my top 3 episodes, but maybe sneaks in as number 5.

And next week?
Puck is back!!!

I don't remember all that they changed, but I was not at all surprised they changed "heavy petting" and "seat wetting." Smiley: lol

It was ok. I was totally hoping they would put Sue in the role of Frank. That would have been freaking awesome. Mercedes had the voice, but changing Transexual to Sensational? Please. Smiley: rolleyes

Science Fiction was done really well in the beginning. That was awesome, and it got me super excited about the episode. But I sort of felt the episode was a let down.

I'm glad I didn't pre-order the music, honestly. I have the original sound track already, and it's better.

Also: I was glad to hear Emma sing, I thought she did the song really well. I like her voice. Or maybe I just really love Emma. I don't know why, but she's probably one of my favorite characters. Smiley: lol

I was very very very disappointed that QUINN did Magenta in Time Warp. Santana could've totally nailed that, and they didn't even split it up like they did the Columbia part for Tina and Brittany! What the **** And Tina's Columbia... Smiley: facepalm

See, "heavy petting" seems really tame to me. It's quite the dated term - perhaps it was more edgy in the 70s, but heavy petting is hardly the bees' knees now.

I thought her character was PERFECT for the song. Singing-wise... eh... but then again, not like Susan Sarandon's voice was fantastic either.

See, "heavy petting" seems really tame to me. It's quite the dated term - perhaps it was more edgy in the 70s, but heavy petting is hardly the bees' knees now.

I was thinking more to make the song make sense, but I was tired when I wrote that. Smiley: lol I can't remember exactly what they changed it to.

Agreed. I didn't think the episode was that bad, but honestly all it made me do was want to actually watch the real thing again (it has been a few years...).

Yeah, I looked at my husband and said, "You know this just makes me want to watch the orignal now, right?"

I wish I could go to a theater and see it.

There's apparently a live version at the Belcourt this weekend :O. http://nashvillerockyhorrorpictureshow.wordpress.com/

Other than that though, a quick Googling doesn't find any showings :(.

They appear to be showing this in Oz one week behind the Americans. Smiley: frown

Those word substitutions seem really unnecessary when they recently had a **** necking scene on a bed, with the inference that more than just necking happened between the two.

The RHPS glee was the first one I watched. I figured that as long as it was centered around something I love, it would be tolerable.

I was sorely mistaken.

Not only did they alter lyrics that were originally fairly tame, they took, in my opinion, too much liberty with the songs composition in general. Everything seemed out of time and off pitch, it was truly terrifying.

The only saving grace was when the teacher guy was shirtless.

I found his body more appealing than the kid that was originally Rocky.

I thought their rendition of Dammit, Janet was good. The rest was meh.

And how can you have Meat Loaf do a cameo in a a Rocky Horror episode & NOT have him sing SOMETHING?!

Sacrilege!

I was sincerely hoping that both he and Bostwick would do something with Rocky Horror. I was sorely disappointed. Smiley: frown
