Is anyone checking out the new series? So far I've seen the first episodes for: Amagami SS, Ookami-san, and High School of the Dead.

Amagami SS seems like it could be pretty good, if you're into romance anime series. Ookami-san's first episode was pretty meh, it could develop into something better, but I'm not betting on it.
High School of the Dead, while the animation is nice, all I'm seeing is stereotypical zombies, with added fanservice.

So, has anyone else checked out a new series? Thoughts on the ones I listed? (I'm not sure what else was supposed to be starting this season).

Edited to add: I'll be following the three I listed, at least until I decide whether they're worth watching (probably 4-5 episodes in).

I watched the first episode of Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi. I was not really impressed but I will give it a few more episodes before judging it.

Honestly, lately I have not followed new series at all. However, I do plan on keeping up with Strike Witches 2 which starts up on Wednesday. Other than that though, I'm still catching up on old series.

Oh right, I'd forgotten about Strike Witches.

The first season was entertaining at least, so I'll make sure to watch season 2.

I'm surprised High School of the Dead got animated, considering the manga has been on hiatus for a couple years now. Manga was good, I'll check out the Anime.

I've been wanting to check out High School of the Dead since I first read about it on TVTropes, and someone is simulcasting it now(I want to say Anime Network, though I can't get on Facebook here at work to confirm).

And Vataro, where you gonna watch Strike Witches 2? PM me if the means is less than on the up and up.

I'd heard good things about the first season, so I figured I should mention ************ II. I've seen about half the first season, and it's ok, but I don't know if I'll watch the second.

Just watched some new Black Lagoon episode the other day. Not really sure what that is about (is this a 3rd season? just a mini-series extension?), but I've always liked Black Lagoon, so I'll be watching what comes out.

I know it's not a series (I think), but more than anything, I'm excited to see the Black Rock Shooter OVA.

Just now, I see a new show called Occult Academy. Any idea if this is supposed to be a good show? I'll probably check it out in a little bit.

Looks to be a "side" story, not really a new season with 5 30min episodes.

I found myself kind of confused about the story in the first episode, dunno if it was the subs I used, or the way the episode unfolded.

Ragoon things were announced as an OVA. Don't know why you'd think it was a new season or something like that.

I was hoping to use Strike Subs since they did the subs of the first season that I watched (and I thought they were good), although I haven't actually heard if they're doing season 2 they were formed in the process of doing the first season so I assume they'll want to continue. We'll have to see.

Less then impressed with High School of the Dead. I mean it's really cool, like when the girls were running along and all BFF then backstabs the other girl and gets eaten anyways. But I think the ecchi gets in the way of things. I did not need the camera aimed at her skirt the whole time while she was fighting off the zombie. The panty shot in the scene I mentioned previously. I think it could've been really good.

Planning on watching Amagami SS and Ookami-san. Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin is another I want to see.

Crunchyroll just announced that they're adding Strike Witches 2 to their summer lineup. Wootage!

Just finished watching the first episode of Seitokai Yakuindomo. It looks like your typical school life/comedy/harem anime but the dialog can be a bit disturbing to say the least. I actually watched two different subs cause I couldn't believe some of the thing they were saying. If you like schoolgirls talking about tampon and **** ************ this anime might be for you.

Just watched Seitokai Yakuindomo and, it's based entirely around one liners. The Occult one, good first episode. Amagami I wasn't sure what to think about till watching the 2nd episode, and it improved. Nurihyon, seems pretty typical. Ookami's pretty good.

There's a spring one I was watching, RAINBOW- Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin and while it can be pretty dark it adds up to be pretty good. The voice actor for Rokurouta I've been hearing a lot of recently. First time I remember him is from ah the name slips me. It was about him forgetting who he was then leading the village into a rebellion that eventually lead him to be the king of the country. They rode on raptors. Anyways, he was the main character, and there were a couple other smaller parts he's done in other animes.

Bingo. The reason I couldn't find it was because it was taken off the site I watched it on. Utawarerumono is the name.

One show I didn't see mentioned here from this season was Mitsudomoe.

I actually overlooked this show when I first noticed it because the story didn't appeal to me, but since then, I heard a lot of good things about it. After watching the first two episodes, I have to recommend it as a good comedy.

The show is about three sisters (triplets) in the 6th grade. The first is evil and very sadistic (she'll do something nice, only so she can create despair later). The second sister is good natured and very strong, but clumsy and extremely perverted (draws pictures of breasts). The last sister is very quiet and gloomy, usually keeping to herself and always seen holding a book, but she's also the scariest of the bunch.

So far, both episodes have followed a similar format: 4 separate stories, each disconnected and with their own theme.

I found the show very funny (but I have a weird sense of humor) and worth watching if you like silliness.

I thought it was pretty cool to see that High School of The Dead was turning into an anime. I've been reading the manga for awhile and I'm wondering if I should go check it out. Alas, that is the only new anime I actually recognize. I'll have to watch some random stuff, maybe I'll get lucky and like something. /shrug

Now that I had the time to sample most of the new series for this season, here's my thoughts on each of them.

High school of the dead: Zombies, pantie shots, gore, zombies, boobs, more zombies... how could it go wrong? good potential and nice animation as a bonus.

Stream on Anime Network

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi: Episodic, very little character development, lack of a main plot, stereotypical character and the narration is really getting on my nerves. Will probably drop it soon.

Strike Witches 2: Direct sequel to the first season and still no pants. More of the same so if you liked season one, give it a try.

Stream on Crunchyroll

Shiki: New neighbors, a remote town, cicadas, mysterious death... sounds familiar? There's a distinct Higurashi feel to this one. I'll need more episodes for a better idea of where this is going but looks promising.

Stream on Funimation

Amagami SS: Romance anime based on a dating sim, not much to say here. If you like romance you might like this one but I'm worried of their idea of doing the story from the perspective of the different love interest without a central plot. We'll have to wait and see.

Mitsudomoe: School/comedy. Got some potential, made me chuckled a few times during the first 2 episodes. Although they are in 6th grade (but look like 5 years old) The humor is definitely adult. Makes me think of a mix between Lucky star and K-on with violence and crude humor.

Seitokai Yakuindomo: One-liner, adult humor centered around sexual inuendo, very little character development, no central plot... serious candidate to be dropped soon but some might like it.

So that's pretty much it for what I will be following this season. I still have Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin to check out but the 2 main contender for keeping my interest till the end are Shiki and Highschool of the dead while I will probably give a serious chance to Mitsudomoe. The rest will probably be dropped at some point unless they drastically improve over the next few episodes.

Anyone seen this one yet? It's called Shukufuku_no_Campanella and I'm kind of curious. The art looks cute, atleast. I'll give it a try later.

Couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. So far its got the worst critic of all the new anime this season.

Quick, hide your wallets and your adolescent sons! It's another "we took the **** out of your favorite **** game and turned it into a meaningless slice of weirdly sexualized whimsy in hopes of bamboozling you out of more money" show, come to suck the life from you like a fluffy televised succubus

DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW. EVER. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ENJOY HAVING BRAIN CELLS

What am I watching? This is a show where nothing happens? Really?
