The end of FMAFollow

Chapter 108 came out in Japan. It's been scanlated for all the rabid fans.

I haven't been following the series that closely in the last few years, but I was able to get the gist of the action at the start.

Lots of series end in disappointment. Like Death Note. The end sucked.

Lots of series end in WTF. Like Evangelion, or Utena, or Lain. Your brain hurts afterward.

Lots of series never end at all. I'm looking at you, One Piece.

And then, the best series just seem to end. FMA falls into this category. That's it. No more Fullmetal Alchemist. No more wacky adventures. No more heartbreaking deaths of beloved characters. And the final Happily Ever After (sort of) montage page at the end states, clearly and firmly, that the series is over.

I could spoiler tag this whole post, but it'd be somewhat pointless. This is a thread about the end of FMA, expect spoilers; there will definitely be some in the following post.

The proposal was a fantastic line and brought back memories of the first anime series where equivalent exchange played a much stronger role. Overall I felt the ending was below par for the series, but that's fairly reasonable considering how high the bar was set. Events unfold rather predictably and bland. Ed and Winry marry. Amestris lost all the bad guys, has all it's problems solved, and is now perfect. Ling becomes Xing's ruler and of course perfectly unites the clans and instantly ends all hatred between them. It was wholly unsurprising. I also didn't care for the whole god bit and felt it was a very weak explanation.

I'm planning to marathon the entire anime when it finishes in like 2 weeks, along with angel beats, durarara, B&H, K-ON, etc. :3 Going to be an epic week.

Ed gives up his "truth" for Alphonse's body. He can never perform alchemy again.

Regarding the ending, I quite liked seeing Father's origin, finally. And, "All bestowed their proper punishment, put in their place, robbed of your pride. That is what you humans revered to as your God, "The Truth."" His ending was a perfect fit with the words he spoke to Al, Ed, Mustang, Izumi and Hohenheim.

Sure, the ending was a slight predictable, but it was satisfying nonetheless. I couldn't wish for a better ending.

Death Note, the ending could've been a lot better if they had ended it sooner then they did. If you watch the first half and just end it there, it was great.

Predictable, but still touching for an ending. I enjoyed it!

But then the homicidal manic would have won and "they" can't have that.
