Shutter (2004 Thai original NOT bladdy american remake!)

Saam gaang (Three Extremes)

"Scary True Stories: Ten Haunting Tales from the Japanese Underground" (Honto ni atta kowai hanashi), several movies under this title, varying lengths, some of 30 minutes others of 50 minutes, good stuff good stuff. I think it can be found on torrents under "dark tales from Japan" or similar headings.

You're welcome :P

I'm probably not the best judge. With my powerful and overactive imagination, even Ernest Scared Stupid gave me nightmares(to be fair I was about 12 at the time). That said, Event Horizon was terrifying.

Terrifyingly bad, perhaps. Quite possibly the lamest movie masquerading as a horror flick ever. My eyes were rolling so hard I'm reasonably certain I sprained one of my orbital muscles.

Depends on your mindset when you watch it i'm sure. if you are just looking reasons to pick it apart, you wont enjoy it. If you are fully engrossed in the idea of getting scared ********* you are more likely to get scared :P.

Movie's in the mail btw, should be here tomorrow or friday.

Event Horizon started off as a decent SciFi thriller then just turned into a cheap Hellraiser knock-off.

I wasn't. I don't tend to be a critic and usually expect to enjoy movies. I went into it wanting to like it, instead it was just a whole lot of "God, this is STUPID!"

Watched Event Horizon last night. Can't say it was very scary at all. It was a great movie though and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You have your 80's staples of Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St and Halloween. Generic slasher, there have been some passable remakes recently. Some more messed up stuff like Hellraiser which seems tame now but back in the day that **** was messed up. Speaking of remakes Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its remake.

Splatstick, Evil Dead, Dead Alive type movies. Dusk to Dawn

Zombie you have Romero, though honestly I am not a huge fan. Night of the living dead series, shaun of the dead which is more comedy, 28 days later which isn't technically zombie but is still most definitely the best zombie move in the last decade.

I have Hatchet sitting on my HD waiting to be watched, kind of a tribute to 80's slasher films.

Creature Features, An American Werewolf in London, Aliens, Predator (but not Alien vs Predator!), The Thing (so good), The Fly. I am at a loss for Vampire movies that don't include Bela Lugosi, Wesley Snipes or James Wood and a Baldwin Brother. Perhaps Innocent blood?

Old time stuff that I will watch anytime it is on like Creepshow, Lost Boys etc

Zombie with Halloween remake, House of a Thousand Corpses and Devils Rejects.

Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Romero, Argento, Raimi etc.

Japanese stuff, or the more tame english counterparts like the Ring or the Grudge.

There is a LOT of material to work through and the best part is that. this is just entry level there is so much out there. Beefing up your horror movie experience is worth investing the time.

Lost Boys is a vampire movie that meets the above requirements. There is also Bram Stoker's Dracula, but you have to deal with Keanu instead. Queen of the Dammed was decent, but it's more like a romance flick then an actual horror movie.

Lost Boys was included later on, Bram Stokers Dracula was a vampire movie but I dunno.

Queen of the Damned makes Twilight look reputable. A singing Lestat with vocals from Jonathan Davis. Even whats her faces body couldn't redeem that movie. Might as well have thrown Blackula up, at least for its exploitation goodness.

The original Amityville Horror is probably one of my favorite horror movies, along with the Exorcist.

Paranormal Activity was pretty good, not the "I'm never closing my eyes again," that everyone made it out to be. Definitely made me jump a few times though.

If you liked Event Horizon, try Sphere. Not great, but worth watching.

While not what I would consider horror, the previously mentioned Cube movies are worth watching. Cube, Cube 2: Hypercube, and Cube Zero.

The Halloween remakes by Rob Zombie were decent. Zombie also did House of 1000 corpses and The Devils rejects, if you want to meet your gore quota for the next year.

The Friday the 13th remake was meh, but if you're desperate. Jason learned how to run, which pretty much killed it.

Ring was ok. I don't remember Ringu very well but I do remember not feeling like I wasted my time. Ring two is also out there, but I've never seen it.

Pandorum was ok, another one worth grabbing if you're completely out of ideas.

What lies beneath and They were pretty good.

A Haunting in Connecticut and Mirrors are worth sticking in the queue.

House(Lot of "House" movies out there so I'll link this one), The Eye, Shutter, The Cell, The Grudge, Gothika, Ghost Ship, Pulse, Silent Hill(I never was a fan of the game but I really liked this movie for some reason), House on Haunted Hill, and White Noise are all movies I have seen at some point in time. If they were on cable and I couldn't find anything else, I'd probably watch them again, most of them anyway.

Aside from Paranormal Activity, I can't remember the last movie that gave me the chills. The genre has been dead for too long (no pun intended).

Ahh, The Amityville Horror is a great horror movie, but I prefer the sequel (The Possession) more... and yes, it is set before the first movie.

I also like Suspiria. I still need to see the other two movies of the trilogy.

Also, someone mentioned Session 9 already... even though David Caruso is in it the movie is great. It also has a homage to Silent Hill (the game) in it... see if you can find it.

The Changeling is an older horror movie with George C. Scott in it... I remember being a kid and being terrified of the movie... but wanting to watch it over and over.

Want a Disney horror movie? Try The Watcher in the Woods. It isn't a cartoon... and I saw it when I was young (under 10) and from what I remember from it I am not sure if I would let my kid watch it til they were 12 or so... I still get shivers from remembering certain parts of the movie... not bloody... but "ghostly".

There was a movie that I saw when I was young that I can not remember the name of the movie or who was in it, but it had something to do with a kid in a well.. and I remember the song Frère Jacques being in the movie. (It's isn't the movie The Changeling)
Edit in: I 'think' the movie is called Child of Glass from a little research. What's funny is... it is ANOTHER Disney (non-cartoon) movie that scared the crap out of me.

I also thought of another good short movie that wasn't a full length movie... Red Room Riddle. It was one of those saturday morning movies that would come on ABC after the Super Hero hour. An ABC Weekend Special.
