Ippo has been doing good recently, but I think the running average is one hit per chapter at the moment.

Its been 22 chapters since Woli started. That's five and a half months to get to Round 6. Enough is enough.

Lain is a mindf*ck, for sure. FLCL will leave you probably just as confused, but it is hilarity mixed with confusion, as compared to Lain's psychological thriller mixed with confusion. That said, Lain's opening song "Duvet" is one of my favorite opening songs... plus it's in English.

If you like fan service and slapstick, Love Hina is an amazing anime. If you like fan service and fighting, DNA² is a good one (the animation is a bit dated, but I really liked it when I saw it like 10 years ago). Actually, thinking about it, almost all of the series I watch are full of fan service. Huh.

Full Metal Alchemist is a good series all around, and is one of the staples of "good, popular anime" (along with Trigun and Cowboy Bebop).

I second Darker than Black and also, for some reason, recommend Read or Die.

We've been picking our way through Monster, a dark psychological thriller about a very insane serial killer in Germany. It's so intense and depressing we can only stomach one episode at a time. (It's also very long.) Today's episode had an 8 year old boy who was told he was worthless by the serial killer, and then sent into the red light district with the warning "if no one talks to you, it means your mother didn't want you" and the implication that he should just kill himself in that case. Yeah, the killer is a right ******* . . .

Blood+ is excellent. I'm a few episodes away from the end of the series. Watch it now.

Netflix, they have all 50 episodes (Blood+ Part 1 and Part 2, each contains 25 episodes). I actually just finished the final episode.

Overall I was very impressed. I haven't seen as much anime as some, but I've seen my good share. The story line may move slow for some people...but I love it when they go into small details as I find it really helps to enrich the overall story.

Also, from reading the thread I have a suggestion for one of those "mind f*ck" animes, and it has been on AS.
"Paranoia Agent" .. I don't even know how to describe it...it's just strange.

I would suggest if you have a decent internet connection download episodes and then delete them, if hard drive space is an issue, or keep them if you may want to watch them later or show to others. The difference in video quality between even standard TV quality downloads and an online stream is astounding. Try your choice of torrent program and www.tokyotosho.info they provide an amalgamated list of torrents from several different sites. An episode will usually take 10-45 minutes and an entire series can be anywhere from an hour to a couple of days depending on seeds and such. Try it and see if it works well for you, I mean if you are willing to watch stuff at streaming quality that is your choice.

Animes I like:

Bleach
Samurai Champloo
Last Exile
Blue submarine #6
Tenchi
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Beebop
Big O
Mizaki films: favorite is Totoro or Howls Castle
Zoids
.hack/sign the original one
Ghost in the Shell
Ruroni Kenchin
ROD
Gunslinger Girls

Animes I dont like:

Gundam: Way way to much story, enjoy the robots not the story.
Naruto: Watched 200 episodes of it and hated it, tried the one where hes an adult and hated it. (the 200 shows was a marathon, nothing else to watch)
Eureka 7: Hated the art and the story, probably the worst one ive seen.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Watched about 30 episodes in total and just got to bored.
Blood+: Watched the first couple episodes and wasnt impressed.

Anime's I've seen and liked:

Trigun Samurai Champloo
Eureka 7 Naruto
Bleach Dance in the Vampire Bund
Fairy Tale Darker than Black
Hajime no Ippo Hero Tales
Full Metal Alchemist Wolf's Rain
Fate/Stay Night To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
To Aru Majutsu no Index Sekirei
Blood+ Vampire Knight
Guyver Vandred
Ah My Goddess Full Metal Panic
Macross Frontier Shaman King
Hellsing Berserk
Last Exile Nagasarete Airanto
D. Gray Man Rental Magika
Neom Genesis Evangelion El hazard
Escaflowne Gintama (stopped watching because it wasn't going anywhere with the plot, funny though)
Rosario + Vampire Sacred Blacksmith

And lots of other's I know I missed....

All of these have decent storylines, well developed characters, decent or better animation quality (Macross was amzing quality) or great action.

I myself am a fan of action comedies with some romance in them, and Harem animes in general are just funny to watch.

Just google Action anime or go to wikipedia or something and you c=should get lists and lists of animes in that genre, thats how I found a lot of the ones I didn't know about.

download is the better option, better video quality and the ones you can download rarely have subtitle issues.

I go to anilinkz.com for the ones I just feel like watching RIGHT NOW though, like maybe the first episode of a series to see if it's worth downloading the rest or something. animeblogz.com, animecrazy and watchanimeon are all also good sites, watchanimeon has video quality that is actually nice enough to make you feel like you don't have to download it.

If you want something (a lot) more violent, you might check out Berserk.

As a long, long time Berserk fan I have to advise against this. Sounds kind of oxymoronical doesn't it? You can either take my word for it that you will hate the creators, or you can read the spoiler... It is only one season and ends on a cliffhanger. There was supposed to be more, but it never happened. And it makes me sad.

If you can get ahold of fansub Naruto or the later dubbed ones, the ones done later for box releases, not the attrocious "potion punch" comedy central version, it might be up your alley. I liked it, definitely didn't love it, but liked it.

Full Metal Alchemist seemed really cool to me, but never did get to watch a lot of it yet.

If you want a lot of violence AND a complete mindf*ck at the same time, you can look into GenoCyber. Aside from violent and mindf*ck there really are no more words to describe this thing lol

Vision of Escaflowne I really liked. It's a little lovey, dovey, but it is really cool and has some awesome quasi-steampunk mecha action.

Bleach is a series I am still working on and am HEAVILY addicted to. Although I wish they had kept the first season's opening song. The opening line still enjoys a place as my facebook status from time to time.

I take the view that the anime is an introduction to the manga. It's too good of a story in my opinion to pass up.

Judging by the tastes you've exhibited so far, I think you'll like it. The only question is whether to watch the first series which breaks from the manga, but does certain things better and has some of the best "filler" I've seen in any anime, or to watch the second series which follows the manga faithfully.

I have heard this, unfortunately getting ahold of the Manga has been troublesome. The one copy I was able to get via download was horrible and blurry. Someday I'll get one! lol

Can I not just watch both?
