Ikkaku was making fun of her crappy sense of direction, that scene took place near the end of the Soul Society arc.

She's implied to at least be competent in fighting. She is the lieutenant of the strongest squad, after all.

We just never got to see her fight.

I honestly think we're not approaching the end of Bleach. Not even close.

The obvious reasons being because it's such a cash cow and logic dictates keep that cow for as long as possible, story be damned. Add on tot he fact that it's shonen, and stories like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece go on until Armageddon or people stop buying, whichever happens first.

But you probably already knew that.

What I see happening is Ichigo and Aizen dukeing it out, Ichigo winning, then Aizen using his last words to tell just why he was doing what he was. Enter new villian. I'm thinking Aizen will either have some Freudian Excuse in his past as to just why he wanted to kill the Soul King, or he possibly didn't want to kill the Soul King, or hell, maybe he'll reveal that the Soul King is the evil one and he was just a Well-Intentioned Extremist trying to save everyone.

If it's the first scenario, the series might actually end. Actually, who am I kidding? They'll pull a villain out of their *** and claim he was "controlling/manipulating Aizen".

Or if they pull an Itachi and show that the Soul King is evil, then that would set the stage for Ichigo and the minor characters to lead an assault on the Soul King's palace. I wouldn't be surprised if, in his final moments, Aizen gives his life to create the key or something.

I think they'll go with something similar to the final scenario, honestly. This means at least a whole 'nother Arc as Ichigo can go against even more powerful opponents. On top of that, we have a (small) precedent. In the flashback Arc to where the Vizards are formed, they mention a Captain recieving a "promotion" to the Royal Guard. That means that the Royal Guard is at least more powerful than the Soul Society Captains. That sets the stage for natural progression up the power levels as Ichigo no doubt will break into the palace and start fighting his way up, making new allies and pretty much repeating the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo arcs.

On top of that, we still have a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up. Like the story behind Isshin (Ichigo's dad) or Ichigo's second Hollow Form.
