Cliche characters, check.
World destruction, check.

It wasn't that bad. I wouldn't say it's worth going to the theaters for. It will likely end up replacing The Day After Tomorrow as the destruction movie TNT spams every weekend. (Or is it FX that shows it all the time?)

Well, are the special effects and sound any good? Usually I'd prefer watching action movies with special effects on the big screen rather than dramas or comedies.

Special effects and sound are pretty much all it's about.

This. QFT. I'm reinforcing this statement tenfold.

Special effects [dollars]... pretty much all it's about.

After watching Transformers I realized that most people only tend to care about the movie budget. It's not that many people can be enthralled by pretty special effects and not give a sh*t about the plot; it's that many people don't give a sh*t about the special effects either. Many people want to see movies that cost a lot to make, and only care about the content so far as it gives the appearance of having cost a lot to make.

I make those comments only half jokingly.

It was exactly what you expected it to be. Bad (implausible) story, characters who you KNOW will die or live, increasingly ridiculous situations. The special effects were intense, and it was one cliff-hanger after another.

It was entertaining, but will easily be forgotten by me.

The kinda-sorta-viral ad campaign for the movie was the Human Continuity Project. This is in the movie.

They should have named it the Human Instrumentality Project and just had a guy there with glasses that just glares at you with his hands together in front of him. Smiley: nod

Kinda-sorta in that they wanted it to go viral, but no one really gave enough of a **** for it to happen?

That and they started the fake website after the real trailers were already out and about in the theaters and TV, making the ad campaign a failure.

Had the Human Continuity Project been started before the movie had been announced, it may have been successful.

Did Japan manage to survive not sinking? That kooky country always manages to survive global destruction.

I watched 2012 a couple of days ago, and I thought it was horrible. I was expecting a lot more action, and no one to live. Although, I did like the destruction scenes that the movie had, but it was by far one of the biggest let downs, in my opinion.

Rate ups for the Gendo.

Edit: Have you actually seen the hentai Human Instrumentality Project? I'm fairly certain the actual animation team from Eva got together to make it. I watched it once. Wasn't anything special as far as **** goes, but even wimpy Shinji managed to score before Asuka invoked the "last man on earth" clause on him.
