Your OP wrote:
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but having watched the first movie, I found it to be nothing more than a low budget teenage love story.

What's with all the fuss about it? Why am I seeing girls and ladies alike fall flat on the floor at the mere mention of "Edward from Twilight"? I had a look at him and while I can't claim to be a supermodel myself, he didn't exactly look like Prince Charming, if you know what I mean. And he's not exactly a great actor. What's so special about it all?

You'd think it was a new Harry Potter, but it's basically just a story about a vampire who falls in love with a mortal and vice versa. Wait, wait, where have I heard this before? Oh yeah, Underworld! Color me clueless, but isn't Twilight almost like Underworld, except the main characters are, like, 10 years younger, there's less fighting, less (good) special effects, less sexy ladies and more zomgdrama?

Don't get me wrong, I found the movie to be a decent action/love flick, but I don't see why people are going crazy over it. It's like they took Buffy the Vampire Slayer, added a little One Tree Hill and turned it into a movie. We've all seen it before.

Am I sounding too biased? Maybe, I don't know. I'm just tired of hearing about Twilight these days. I went to a book store, looking for the sequel to City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (excellent trilogy, by the way, The Mortal Instruments), but I couldn't find any English literature. I found a guy who worked there and asked him where they kept their English books and he pointed me to a shelf filled with Twilight. I was like "Are you kidding me?"

Twilight-mania sucks. Smiley: frown

You didn't understand what Twighlight fandom was about. We're explaining. It's all about what girls and women like, in smushy sexy ways.

Here's another explanation: A guy looks at a centerfold and goes "Oh, Yeah, baby."

A girl reads a romance novel, or watches a movie over two hours, and goes "Oh, Yeah, baby."

Ever since Allakhazam started changing ****, it decided to put my page default at 100 replies, so to me this looks a direct jab at Omegavegeta.

That's probably true. It might be reciprocal. It would depend on the guy.

I have mine set to 100 by default anyway, and always find it humorous when comments like that are made so I can pretend they were talking about something completely different =P.

It's not like that. I get why chicks are digging it (so to speak), I was just hoping it wasn't for the obvious reasons. Kind of like someone who gets smacked in the face with a tire iron upon immediately asking why. The obvious reason would be because, but he's hoping it isn't for obvious reasons because then the world would be a crazy place.

Can't have a world made of crazy. Smiley: disappointed

Edit: Also, I've no patience with posters who don't use the default settings (default being never filter and 50 posts per page).

Ok, poorly worded on my part.

The 'standard' settings then.

What exactly do you have no patience with? How does my having 100 posts per page affect you in any way whatsoever?

I guess the tongue-in-cheek wasn't as obvious as I thought. Smiley: um

The funny thing is that this Morman author has popularised the whole Vampire and Werewolf genre for a new generation of tweenyboppers... and when they go looking for more Vamp romances out there, because they have a taste of blood now...they are going to discover all the hard lustful sex-without-marriage that Stephanie Meyer was trying to sweetly steer them away from.

Ari, you're deviating from the intellectual downwards spiral Vataro and I are on here. Smiley: frown

But yes, the irony did not pass me undetected. It's sort of like back when I was in elementary and the subject 'sex ed' came up. The school was a privately funded religious thing, so all the heathen stuff was sort of a no-no (especially sex before marriage) and the 'sex ed' topic was sort of avoided up until ninth grade or so.

By then it was far too late.

Something like that.

Last year at the Christmas convention thing at my old school, half the girls from my class (those that weren't social deviants like myself) were pregnant and married. Even some of the girls from my sister's class. It's crazy.

I dodged the whole teenage parent thing like I dodge bullets.

I haven't had the chance yet.

I bet your school teachers and officials regarded that as a triumph of moral, religious and social engineering.
