So, yesterday Johnny Depp, in full Jack Sparrow getup, announced the title of the next movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean series: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
I'm not sure whether to be excited or not. Sure, I'd always like to see more Captain Jack Sparrow, but I felt the last movie was a great spot to end the series at. Especially if Will and Elizabeth won't be returning.
I thought the last movie kinda sucked; maybe this will be more entertaining without the two lovers getting in the way.
^
I like PotC, but the 3rd did suck for this reason.

Not much for Will to do, he can't leave the Flying Dutchman unless this movie takes place 10 years in the future, and that would just be lame. So if he can't be "used" then why have Elizabeth in the movie, unless to show she is a ***** (something I don't think Disney would do ).

From the article, it's gonna be a prequel, showing how Captain Jack Sparrow met Barbossa. Should be... interesting, at the least. I'll reserve judgement until an actual trailer appears.

Something happens to her kid and she has to go rescue him so he can be there in the "10 years later scene" from the last movie?

If you are saying this because of . . .
"The fourth film will reportedly have Sparrow and Hector Barbossa meeting up in the newly founded New Orleans, and then setting sail together in search of the Fountain of Youth."
Still not a prequel. At the end of the 3rd movie, Jack takes the wooden map. He spins it and we see "Fountain of Youth", and then his compass points him in the right direction.
Also, before this, iirc Barbossa says something to the crew on the Black Pearl about the Fountain of Youth. Then he unrolls the map and finds he was ****-blocked.
I read it as Barbossa done saw the "location" on the map, so he knew kind of where to go. And Jack being Jack bumps into him in a new port town, of New Orleans (1,2, and 3 all took place in the Caribbeans, I don't think they ever came up North to the states...) and they either team up buddy style or do what Pirates do to get to the gold 1st.
I like the first the best, and thought the third was decent. I hated the second one though. It just didn't seem to have much of a point other than setting up the third one. Granted I saw the second one shortly before I saw the third in theaters, so that might be part of the reason I have that view point.
I always thought it was freaking awesome that Elizabeth became the "King" of Pirates in the third movie. She kicks butt. =x
I'll probably go see a fourth one, even if it does suck. I just love Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. It's one of his best characters ever I think.
On a side note, why are we using spoiler tags for a movie that came out over two years ago? O.o I just thought of that.
I think they need to learn how to edit some sh*t out of those movies. Not a single one didn't get boring long before the end. Also, can we please stop with the initials for everything? I had to click on the thread just to see what the hell you talking about.
Captain Jack Sparrow is, probably, Johnny Depp's greatest character, ever.
I'm a huge Depp fan, not because of his charming person or his dashing looks, but because every character he delivers is gold. From Gilbert Grape back in the days, to Dean Corso in the great Polanski movie, to Jack Sparrow, oh, sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
There aren't a lot of actors out there who can perform the role of a Frankenstein-ish creation with scissory hands, a drunken pirate and the brother of a mentally handicapped child (one of DiCaprio's better performances, by the way) and deliver gold in all cases.
He's a great actor.

So true. I hope he pulls off the Mad Hatter at an awesome level.
