I thought this was about the Last Airbender movie that's coming out next year...

But this looks cool. I don't know what it's from though, care to enlighten me?

Avatar = James Cameron Sci-Fi epic in the making
The Last Airbender = M. Night Shamalamabamalama conversion to realistic epic doomed to (probably) fail

M. Night agreed to drop Avatar from the title (from what I understand) due to Cameron's aged concept/script/etc. revolving around Avatar. I believe Cameron conceived the concept for his Sci-Fi movie well before the Anime/Cartoon came around.

I'm setting myself up for a huge disappointment probably but I intend to watch this movie the moment it is released. The story does seem to be a fairly popular science fiction one though, but then a good movie is most of the times how it's made anyway. And this movie just seems to be very well made.

I really hope it lives up to its hype!

District 9 set the Sci-Fi bar pretty high for me. Before then, it was the original The Matrix (1999), title held by Event Horizon (1997) before that. So yea, it's gonna take a bit to dislodge D9 from it's current #1 spot on my list. I haven't seen the trailer yet, however I've read quite a bit as I'm a James Cameron fan and a Sci-Fi fan...so I'm aware of the movies concept. I'll check it out when I get home, my Palm Pre doesn't like the Apple Trailer site.

District 9 isn't out till late September in Belgium, thanks for the tip!

My latest good sci-fi movie would be Code 46, which I only saw on television by accident, not sure if it was out in theaters in 2003 though. Simple and straightforward, good story.

District 9 was one of the best Sci-Fi movies I've seen. Actually, it's probably one of the best movies I've ever seen, period. The plot was excellent, better than a lot of dramas out there now.

And the aliens looked ******* real...

It doesn't look like the technology has quite caught up with his vision yet. It was painfully obvious what was done with computers and what was real.

I agree. Its completely unbelievable. Humans would never do something like that.

mhmm

And it also looks dumb because it's blue fantasy elves jumping around a forest shooting bows & arrows at helicopters and winning our hearts with their charming simplistic beauty and legolas-like skills.

So... how do aliens say buffalo?

Edit:
Thanks, by the way. Now I can't imagine this movie not being Dances with Wolves. Here I thought it was going to be fun and interesting, and now I just see everything being narrated by Kevin Costner about how he is learning so much about these people he thought were savages, and has grown fond of them.
