Agreed. I also enjoyed the boys' more as well. Although I did laugh at the smiling bobbing faces of the girls, worked quite well for the song Smiley: lol.

Yeah, I think I liked the guys' medley a lot better. Both were good, I just liked their style better.

I've got a question though. I missed the episode before last, and didn't bother to watch it online, so I came back into it very confused. Did Quinn and cute guy actually end up having "the sex" and that's why she's pregnant? I got pretty confused because I saw last week's episode and I went "Hey, they're abstinent! How the hell did she get pregnant?" If someone could sum up what happened in that episode for me it would be much appreciated.

Quinn tells Finn she's pregnant, and that it happened during a make-out session in the hot tub a month ago when he got a little too excited. When I saw the episode, I actually said outloud "That can't happen!" I even Googled it to make sure it's an old urban legend (it is). And about 10 minutes later in the episode, it's revealed that Puck (mohawk boy) is the father, that he got Quinn drunk before and they had sex.

Meanwhile, Terry (Will's wife) is NOT pregnant, but when Will tells her about Quinn's situation after Finn confides in him, Terry approaches her and offers to help... if she gets the baby. Quinn agrees in the most recent episode.

Here's your answer:

Quinn and Finn were getting hot and heavy (though in a non-coital way) in a hot tub when Finn had one of his "think of the mail!!" moments.) Quinn told him that this is why she's pregnant, because the hot tub water was the perfect temperature for sperm (of course, it's not, but Finn, while adorable, isn't that bright, and he is living in Bible-Belt Hell.) However, we later find out that one day Finn's friend Puck (the one with the mohawk) got her drunk on wine-coolers and had sex with her. So Puck's the daddy.

I could really start to like Puck. I have a thing for bad boys.

I agree. His character has turned out to be pretty interesting; at first I thought he would be totally one-dimensional.
What he says to Quinn was actually kind of touching. "I've got my pool cleaning business. I'll take care of you. I'm not a deadbeat like my dad!" Something along those lines. Makes me hope that he and Quinn get together, leaving Rachel and Finn to ravage each other. Besides, "Finn and Quinn" is just... silly sounding.

Also, I'm reaaaally starting to dislike Terri. I know it's set up that way, but I held some hope for her before when her sister is talking about using pregnancy to ensnare the husband and Terri seems horrified at first, then scared enough to agree. But with the most recent episode I think her fears aren't enough of a justification for being a total *****.

Okay, silly confession time. Sometimes my ears just don't work very well. Up until I saw her name in writing last week, every time I heard "Quinn Febray" I thought her name was Quinnifer Bray which left me thinking, "Dear God, I know people have gone absolute nuts lately making up names for their kids, but please please please tell me no one outside Hollywood Fantasy-Land is naming their kid Quinnifer."

Well, she was a ***** long before the whole fake pregnancy thing started. Her first scene of the pilot, she berates Will--who went out of her way to bring her lunch at work--for having mayonnaise on her sandwich, then goes on to complain about how she's on her feet "four hours a day, three days a week" and therefore can't possibly be expected to come home and make dinner for herself.

Murphy loves casting Jessalyn Gilsig as a *****. You should've seen her character in Nip/Tuck.

Speaking on Quinn, looks like next week might be filled with some angsty goodness. Nothing plot spoilery, but two song spoilers, in fact, the song spoiler is in the URL of the link, don't hover over the link unless you want to know.

Song #1

Song #2

They're going to end up making me like Quinn, dammit.

Yeah, I really don't like Will's wife. She's a selfish *****. She's such a flat character too. They haven't really shown her to have a single positive character trait thus far, and it makes me wonder why the hell Will ever married her. I know it's been mentioned that they were high school sweet hearts, but come on. They make it way too easy for us to root for Will and the crazy guidance counselor, since you can at least see that she's a nice person.

That is one thing that bugs me about the show. Too many of the characters are one dimensional (typically the minor characters, but still). I know the series is still new, so I'm hoping that given some time, they'll get better at it. Mercedes for instance, I really like. Other than the fact that she seems to be a bad stereotype of the sassy black woman.

First, you have to remember this is farce. It's not meant to be taken literally, the characters aren't meant to be beloved protagonists. If a character seems one-dimensional, it's almost always because the producers are using that character to play a stereotype to the hilt. I had trouble adapting to this with Nip/Tuck, but my enjoyment of the show remained a lot higher whenever I was able to keep that in mind. It's just what Ryan Murphy does best.

Second, I really have to disagree with your point about the minor characters being one-dimensional. Thus far, the two characters on this show that have really managed to surprise me are Quinn and Puck, both of whom started out as stereotypes of the ****** Cheerleader and Jock Bully, but who both seem to be evolving into something more.

it's not so much bad stereotyping as bad acting. For this character, any enjoyment I'm going to derive from the character is going to be completely nullified by horrible acting. Amber Riley is just. so. bad. The scene where Kurt came out to her was really, really damaged by her performance. Chris Colfer was striking all the right notes in his performance, captured the perfect element of trepidation that (I would imagine) would accompany such a revelation at such a time in one's life and in such a community, and she was giving him NOTHING in return but a badly-delivered cliche. Ugh.

On the good acting side, there is Chris Colfer, who is just knocking EVERYTHING they throw at him out of the ballpark.

Hmm, I'm guessing I picked a really bad episode to miss then, because thus far I haven't seen much from either of them. I'll have to go watch it online tomorrow so I can see what I missed. I have noticed that the girl who plays Mercedes isn't the best actress, so maybe that's why her characterization bugs me so much. I do love the gay kid though, he's freaking awesome. I loved how he betrayed the guys before the girl's medley performance this week, and said his allegiance was to them and that he was being forced to team up with the boys. That cracked me up.

It also bugs me that the two kids with disabilities of some sort (the boy in the wheel chair and the Asian girl with the speech impediment) barely get any lines and thus far have very limited scenes. But again, the series is new, hopefully they'll get better about that.

In case you couldn't tell, I really suck at remembering names of the characters.

Glee is on tonight at 9 PM.

If you're not watching Glee, your children are going to grow up to be humorless prigs with bad teeth and worse fashion sense.

You need to be watching this show. Seriously.

I've managed to not peek at those songs yet; the only song I know for sure is coming up is Kurt (Chris Colfer) and I think Rachel (Lea Michele) sing "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. I am SO excited for that, though I don't care for Kurt's voice that much, but we haven't really given him a chance to take off yet.

I think I might miss it tonight, as I have family visiting, but I'm still SO excited!

I missed last week's but the week before (the one with Kristin Chenoweth) opened with a musical number (Errmm... nice football guy and Quinn) singing some Journey song that was just comically unsynched. I've seen Japanese monster movies with better synching than that.

The show's starting to lose me some but I guess I picked the wrong episode to miss last week. I might try to catch it online if its available this evening before tonight's episode and see if it keeps me.

I'm starting to think there might be something wrong with your digital tv/satellite feed, or perhaps with your DVR. Because I just watched that scene online at http://www/fox.com/glee, and again on the version I downloaded off Bittorrent, and neither one was horribly out of sync. For that matter, there's not much room to tell if there are sync issues to begin with, because the close-ups of the actors have them passing behind other people during most of the consonants.

I'm loving it more every day. It has all the delicious irony and outrageous farce I loved about Nip/Tuck, without the gore and with characters I can actually give a damn about. Plus, as a former choir and theatre geek myself, and former inmate resident of the midwest Bible belt, it has that appeal as well.

And last week's ep was hilarious. The scene where Finn comes to practice after visiting the nurses office had me and Mr. Ambrya in hysterics.

Nah, everything else is fine. Other shows are fine. Hell, the rest of Glee is fine. Just the obviously dubbed and poorly synced singing. Maybe I just notice it more, I dunno. I noticed it immediately during the song though.

I didn't overly care for the rendition of the song that Finn and Rachel sang. It sounded like someone went over their voices with a keyboard or synthesizer. Reminded me of a lot of Britney Spears songs. Other than that the episode was great!

Episode 7: Showdown.

I didn't care for the music much in this episode. The episode itself was great for Sue's crazy comments, and it advanced the plot a bit, but the lack of good music didn't help. I did like the AMOUNT of music; there were like, what, 4 songs? However, I don't think Quinn can sing well. Her voice is completely average (it could have just been the song, but an amazing voice can change even an average song). I don't like her character, but I do appreciate the symmetry between her and Terri's situations. The reporter kid was hilarious as well; his comment about the "independent polling in my pants" had me laughing.

Favorite song in the episode was Nelly's "Take a Ride With Me," but it was the only untouched-up song, so it isn't worth downloading :-(

I'm looking forward to when all the lies get put on the table; it helps that the liars are all unlikeable characters, so good or bad it's going to be ok!

I realized last night that I don't give a damn about pretty much any of the characters' stories so really I just watch for Jane Lynch. There's a few other good lines (heh... "Drizzle") but she's carrying the show for me.

Oh, and neurotic lemur girl is amusing. "Full Silkwood"... heheh.

Yeah, according to a teaser article on ew.com there's an upcoming episode where Kurt and Rachel compete for a solo and that song is in that episode. I don't remember where I saw it, but rumor has it that the aforementioned is the song they use (or perhaps are competing for?)

If you Twitter, Joph, you might be interested to know the Sue Sylvester is doing something called "trending" (clearly, I don't do Twitter.) Apparently, she's the new Nuck Chorris.

A few examples (some of which I suspect are actually recycled CN jokes, but can't say for certain since I stopped reading those years ago:)

Quote:
Sue Sylvester can slam a revolving door

Sue Sylvester never gets drunk. There's no alcohol in tears.

Sue Sylvester interrupts Kanye West.

When Sue Sylvester pokes someone on Facebook, they actually feel it.

Sue Sylvester is currently suing NBC, claiming that "Law" and "Order" are trademarked names for her left and right legs.

Sue Sylvester has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life there.

Sue Sylvester can eat a rubix cube and **** it solved.

I'm tempted to log into WoW and head to the barrens and start spamming Sue Sylvester jokes.
