and did you like it?

My younger brother (aged 17) wants to see this movie.
We skipped out on going tonight because we have had bad luck this year on opening nights with movies.

I use to play with the toys (the 3 inch guys), I think there was an 80s cartoon. This is all I know of G.I Joe.

I'm seeing it Sunday, I'll let you know what I think afterward. I do look forward to seeing Christopher Eccleston go from Doctor Who to Doctor Doom.

The preview made it look really fun, but there were a lot of cool previews that night and Jon and I still haven't gotten around to seeing any of them. If people here end up liking it though I think we'll be finding time to see it, I trust you guys. :)

This. Though they didn't pre-screen it for critics, so that kinda scares me.

I thought G.I. Joe for what it is: an action movie. If you want non cliche storyline and excellent acting, then this movie is not for you. But, if you're willing to put that stuff aside and in turn receive over the top action scenes that will have you grinning from ear to ear, I would definitely recommend it.

To be honest, even for an action movie, it isn't good.

It's amongst the worst movies I've seen in a theater, or put otherwise payed a lot of money for. And I've seen horrors such as Dreamcatcher and Star Wars 1-3!

How does it compare to that TMNT thing that came out a few years back? Is it that bad?

Hollywood is killing my childhood, one nostalgia at a time.

Thanks for reminding me of TMNT, I've still not seen it! I'll have to find it and then let you know.

The CGI one?
It was a failed attempt to bring it "back".
I enjoyed it, but then I based my young childhood around TMNT, so I love it all (even the new cartoon that runs on Saturdays).

I'm going to skip out on GI Joe then and save my cash for District 9 next week.

Yeah, that one. The previews for it looked really fun too, but when Jon and I rented it a couple months back since neither of us had seen it before, it was so bad we couldn't finish watching it. And he loved the turtles when he was younger.

Terrorists have actually infiltrated Hollywood. The recent string of comic/cartoon based movies is a ploy to demoralize our country for their next big attack. TrueFax.

Cheesy lines, over the top action sequences, no moral lessons to be learned, definitely worthy of the original cartoon series.

I liked that McCullens troops were more like the B.A.T.s then the normal Cobra troopers.

If they don't say "Porkchop sandwiches" in the movie, it will be a failure for me, no matter what.

Edit:

HAHAHA!
Quote:
In the upcoming movie tie-in video game, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the developers Double Helix Games had planned to include the line "Porkchop Sandwiches" from one of Fensler's film as an exclamation, and had every voice actor record that line for its use. However, Hasbro rejected its use, citing the need to avoid damaging pending lawsuits.

The actors were afraid because of the amount of over-acting they were being asked to do. I don't intend on watching it.

My first impression when I saw the preview was that it's a new power rangers movie... Needless to say I'm not going to watch it.

They already showed me the Eiffel Tower being destroyed in the preview - why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

That's exactly how I felt after seeing Transformers 2. I never played with G.I. Joe toys when I was a kid, but I had a ton of Transformers and as ridiculous as Transformers 2's plot was, watching it on IMAX made me feel like I was 7 years old again. It felt like watching an episode from the original cartoon series, only with Megan Fox and awesome CGI. I could see how someone who was a die-hard G.I. Joe fan as a kid would feel similarly about this movie.

I saw Dennis Quaid(sp?) in the previews.

I'm sure if I have seen Day After Tomorrow, I'll have the jist of it. Just possibly less snow.
